Can I wear black to Ascot?

A friend as offered to lend me a hat.

It's black and white.

Can I wear a black dress to ladies day? Not sure I have anything else to go with it.

Otherwise I have to buy new dress AND hat.

Of course you can wear black.

But then you won't have an excuse to go shopping........
