Dying jeans with Dylon 'jeans blue'

Has anyone tried using this dye to rejuvenate their old jeans? I just bought some but thought I would ask on here for any tips/warnings before I ruin transform my faded jeans!

It's good for darkening but gives a more uniform blue rather than blue/white denim which is a different look. Fades more quickly than denim too. Having said that I do use it and will continue to do so but it's not perfect. Very easy to use in the washing machine but make sure the following wash is a dark one!

I had terrible problems with washes after using Dylon- destroyed whites many months after using the dye in the machine. Residue must have been left in the machine.Dylon eventually compensated me. Lots of people dyed stuff with no problems (mumsnetters).

i've done it and it was ace. really great blue - a deep indigo. lovely!

I have done it lots of times, you get a really good indigo blue, but its not quite a 'jeans' colour (so it doesnt end up like a new pair of jeans), worth doing though.

One thing - if the denim is worn or purposely distressed, it can end up a bit patchy as the worn areas can grab the dye better.

Its also worth doing a service wash (powder, but no items) in the machine afterwards just to clear it out and clean the filter too.

It will work but I second a hot wash with an empty machine and clean out the door seal as well. If it is still blue put the machine on again empty. I had to put my machine on at least two or three times before all the blue dye had gone.

Thanks everyone - they are in the machine now. I hadn't worn them for ages because they had faded so much so if it doesn't work I have nothing to lose!

So disappointing! I was so excited about seeing the results but they are only about a shade darker even though I followed the instructions to the letter. They are still damp so I guess they will be even lighter once they are completely dry :(
