DD going out for a meal with friends. Wants a dress. All her friends are leggy & super skinny. DD is about a size12 and wants something that flatters but still quite trendy. Any suggestion? Thanks.

Can't link but a skater style with a flared skirt would look good on her shape.

reddaisy · 04/06/2012 09:03

Debenhams has got loads of dresses and has a big sale at the moment so it could be worth trying there as there are all the concession outlets there too.

hellsbells99 · 04/06/2012 09:03

Thanks Wips. Any idea which shop would be best to start with?

Warehouse and Oasis are also good for girls who aren't super skinny ime. Have fun.

Dd1 got a cute one in H&M last weekend. She is a 10-12 and 5'3ish and has a sister who is 5' 8 and a size 6, so she always thinks she's 'fat' and mostly refuses to wear dresses. She did, however, wear her new pretty floral dress with a denim shirt and Converse!

Agree that Warehouse would be worth a look too.

No luck so far!

I'm a 12/14 and always recommend Oasis. It had 20% off dresses at the weekend. There was a lovely navy playsuit that I am too old for which might work for her.

Northernlurker · 04/06/2012 13:39

Have you been to Republic yet? Dd1 gt a lovely dress there for a family do. It did cost £30 but then I found they did 10% NHS discount Grin. It was a sort of navy silk with flowers and she loved it. She's about a 10 but shortish and with a bottom and hips. Her two good friends are about 8 inches taller and with willowy ballerina figures. It's quite challenging because she's a perfectly healthy, nice shape but it is a different shape from her friends.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2012 16:38

Ooh yes - a play suit is a good idea. DD2 will happily wear those and feels far less self conscious than in a dress.

TequilaMockinBird · 04/06/2012 16:40

DD (14) has this one m.bankfashion.co.uk/mt/www.bankfashion.co.uk/product/ribbon-floral-playsuit/82377/

She's also a 12 and it looks lovely! Sorry about links, I'm on my phone

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2012 16:40

Lots here Some are truly hideous but others are nice. DD2 likes the bird print one.

ggirl · 04/06/2012 16:45

this comes in lots of colours

Ishoes · 04/06/2012 20:28

Kelly brook for new look has a lovely playsuit and a cute fifties style dress which would flatter your dds figure-if they werent so short I would wear them myself!

novelsituation · 04/06/2012 21:28

My daughter has this

hellsbells99 · 04/06/2012 22:49

Thanks for help everyone. Ended up with a playsuit from New Look! Black shorts with a smart cream top with collar. Not quite as planned but still ok. Thanks again.
