Best non-waterproof mascara for long eyelashes?

I'm after a new mascara and would like some recommendations please! I have very long top and bottom eyelashes and have strict requirements as a result:

  • must stay put and not run/smudge (have had problems with this with Clinique and Estee Lauder in past);
  • must not flake;
  • must not take ages to dry (otherwise as a result of simply blinking I'm likely to end up with little mascara dots around my eyes);
  • must come in black/brown or brown, black doesn't really suit me as am blonde;
  • not waterproof: I find them ok at first but after repeated use they really dry my eyelashes out ;
  • volume building is good, I like my eyelashes to be seen.

I've been using Lancome Hypnose for the past few years but the last two I've had have flaked massively so am looking for a change. I tried going back to Max Factor (the mascara of my youth) but had the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Try Lancome's Definicils with their Cils booster underneath. Mascaras tend to smudge or flake on me but this one doesn't & is easy to remove. Hypnose smudged on me & clumped quickly. Hypnose Drama flaked. There is a good website called makeup alley where you can read reviews on makeup.

I also have very long eye lashes and agree that Lancome Definicils is good. I like it because it provides a natural look.

The holy grail of mascaras. Does not budge all day. Quite dramatic 'thickened' look, I think. Comes off with warm water, but only with a sort of plucking movement, so stays put through tears etc. For the first time ever I can wear mascara on my lower lashes. Love it.

Sorry for silence, not had a chance to get back to the computer before now. Thanks for the recommendations, will see if I can get any testers to try these out
