Do i take my knickers off? Self tanning treatment etiquette

veryworriedme · 30/05/2012 09:50

how come there is no thread on this? Am I the only person that doesn't know? I have a treatment booked today but don't want to whip things off unnecessarily . Whole idea of it is pretty excruciating to me but I guess they are used to it. Can anyone tell me what goes on?

You are given paper pants to change into. Disgusting things... I just wear high-cut black cotton knickers and keep them on instead. Has to be dark otherwise the tan will stain them permanently.

Help! Only 2hrs till appointment

I think most people go nude. Or wear the paper knickers.

cheesesarnie · 30/05/2012 10:26

what ellie said.
i wear my own black pants as paper ones are so bleurgh.

you do realise we could all wind you up though and say yep nude or no you have to back to front y fronts in a particular colour!

why dreading it?

i find it quite relaxing!i dont do it often but when i do its a special treat.

AngryFeet · 30/05/2012 10:36

I really don't think you are supposed to take your knickers off. They always told me to keep them on.

ScaredyDog · 30/05/2012 13:40

I find it hard enough standing there with no bra and only my knickers!

Need to get another spray tan in a couple of weeks - hate having it done!

veryworriedme · 30/05/2012 22:47

Well, my Wednesday pants did not make a public outing as 10 mins after I posted I got a phone call to say my ds had an accident. He is now in traction for the next few weeks and in hospital with my dh while I am with the baby....feeling very sad looking at his bike

cheesesarnie · 30/05/2012 23:07

ohno!Sad

poor thing!hope hes ok.

Thanks because i don'y know what else to say.

veryworriedme · 30/05/2012 23:25

Oh thank you cheesesarnie, it looks like he will have one of these Hip spica casts as he is only 2. I can't believe he is going to be completely immobilised for the summer. So sad, he kept crying "want to sit on mummy's knee" at the hospital. Well the fake tan was for a wedding and the first night away from the kids in over two years but given it is on Saturday I guess I am going to be finding ways to amuse a miserable toddler instead. I think I will go in search now of old threads on this...what a difference an hour makes!

bless him!

Fourlegged · 31/05/2012 07:54

Awww you poor thing :( I hope he feels and gets better speedily x

OhThisIsJustGrape · 31/05/2012 10:00

Oh your poor DS :( How is he this morning?

doormat · 31/05/2012 10:07

i am more of a sunbedder{yes i know the risks) but hate having a white ladygarden or tan lines...my daughter used to always have a spray tan when she lived at home and everything turned orangey brown....think that is what put me off...and yes she used to go to several places to see if they were better at applying etc...but it is still the same..

i go with everything off....including peabs
