tell me all about bare minerals

a couple of people I know swear by bare minerals - they use pretty much the whole range; foundation, blusher etc and tell me that the difference is incredible.

So what does mumsnet think? Is it worth giving it a go?

I'm finally wearing it for the first time today even though I bought the starter kit back in December. I kept on thinking I was going to bollocks it up so never worked up the courage as I used to only wear make up before going out but I'm now wearing make up every day so had the time to put it on and take it off if need be.

The colour seems to be far better than any of my tinted moisturisers and I like how much control I seem to have over coverage. I'm very happy with it and it wasn't a faff at all.

It hasn't enlarged my pores (as some MNers have found) and I think it looks pretty good over all. When the Sales Assistant applied it in December it covered the terrible spots I had developed really well.

I probably won't bother getting the blushers etc as I'm happy with the cream blush I use.

Thanks Comrade! Do you have to use a primer before you put the foundation on?

Thanks, Hannah

I LOVE bare minerals and have used it exclusively for a good couple of years. I just use the foundation, without primer, and then the powder over the top. I might use the blusher on a night out but not everyday.

I find it really quick to apply and pretty impossible to balls up. Give it a go!

Well, I did use a primer because my SPF cream (which I use after moisturiser) says that it is a primer too.

Get the starter kit. It has everything you need... brushes, two foundation colours plus "warmth," mineral veil (which is like a setting powder and works as a touch up in the day IIRC) and a sample of the primer too.

If I didn't use my SPF cream then I would probably end up doing one day with the sample primer and one day without to see which I preferred.

Yes it's fab stuff! I use the Bisque concealor and the foundation. I didn't like the primer so use Barbra Daly's one from Tesco which is wonderful.

look on ebay as BM tends to be about half the price on there

I have been using it for about 6 months, initially I adored it, but lately it makes me feel a bit caked, and old ladyish. I think for me it may be a winter thing.
