is anyone else tan proof? i seem to be....

i burn in the sun, but i have learned a painful lesson - and that is that i burn (only on the top half though!) and then go white again. i never tan.

so now i slap on the sun screen if i want to sit out.
but i never ever so much as get even a hint of colour in the sun.
i am very pale, yet i have dark hair (if left au naturale!) and dark eyes - i just seem to have no capacity to tan in any way shape or form.

my kids only have to so much as show a bit of exposed skin to the sun and they turn a beautiful golden colour....(i do ensure they use sunscreen! but they are now beyond the age where they will listen to me anyway - and DS is like a vampire - never comes out during day light)

i dont tan if i use a sunbed,

do i just have sun proof skin?

I don't know the answer, but wanted to let you know you're not alone! I go from whitest white to red and then back to white again.

My legs are the same. Torso burns to a cinder then nice golden tan. Legs return to pasty blue the day after the burn subsides, and in fact they don't even burn as readily as the rest of me, but stay resolutely blue for a really long time. Have never ever had naturally tanned legs.

My arms go brown , although saying that, they burnt on Friday .

After 2 weeks in Portugal with factor 30 I had a very slight glow. That was it

I used to burn and eventually tan when I was younger. But then moved to a very hot tropical country and maintained a nice healthy colour without ever sunbathing. I then returned from tropical country and have never burned or tanned since. It's very odd, I think my skin must have changed?

Another tan-less wonder signing in here. We went to Greece for nine weeks a few years back and I came back nigh on the same colour

Spray tan makes me look patchy despite exfoliating and moisturising to within an inch.

My legs are amazingly sun-proof!

My top half tans easily, my legs however stay exactly the same and never tan even though I mainly wear dresses

My face is completely tanproof whilst the rest of me goes brown within an instant.

No idea why - I end up looking really odd as my face goes v pale especially when I'm tired so after a day at the beach my body may well be brown but my face has a ghost like appearance

has anyone tried one of those tan accelerators?

i am so envious of those who go a lovely even golden colour.

i go red in patches. then white.
i went out last night in a dress - my legs actually look blue. they are blue white.
its terrible!
i spent the night trying to hide them....

i have sat out now for 2 days - i have red patches on my back, my neck and my tummy.
the rest is white.
apart from legs - which remain blue.

still. nice to know im not alone - i have never ever met another living soul who is sun proof!

My legs appear to be tan-proof. My arms and face have occasionally been a bit off-white, but never my legs. At 37 I have finally decided that it doesn't matter and I'm baring them anyway.

I vividly remember a school trip to Queens Club when I was about 15. By the end of the day everybody had tanned legs from sitting in the sun all day and my legs stood out beautifully for being shiny white.

I can just about go brown in my top half with a lot of sun over time but my legs will stay white whatever I do. I don't tend to burn though

But no tan - only honeymoon in the caribbean I was mooching about on the last day and a member of staff asked was I lost as it was my first day- I said no it was my last day and he asked why no tan (rather incredulously) I had to shrug and say I'm Irish - I don't tan! I go red or freckle and then go back to white. After numerous teenage years when all around were tanning. I have decided I like pale and interesting and will fake it when needed.

I neither burn nor tan. I swear I've actually burned those around me though as the sun reflects off my shiny whiteness.

I'm tan proof too. V moderate off white on arms but legs stay blue. Fake tan is my friend this summer.

the only fake tan that works for me is st tropez everyday moisturiser with a hint of self tan.
and even that doesnt work on my legs.
nothing works on my legs because they just go streaky and look even worse (if thats possible!) than being blue....

Try this cheap as chips and no streaks. Really. I'm crap at fake tan and today I have a bit of a glow and wore a knee length dress

I've given up on fake tan, I just look like I've been playing outside and not had my bath yet.

I go in the sun, I burn, then I peel then I am white again with no tan just the same as you OP.

I also react badly to every fake and spray tan I've ever tried so I am domed to be pasty white forever. A friend said to me, 'you're so brave, I'd never go out in a skirt without my fake tan on' and I thought, gee, thanks!

Me too! Or my legs at least. I burn/tan slightly on my arms, shoulders, boobs. My legs are still deathly pale after two days out all day sunbathing.

Sund beds are the same. Two weeks in Thailand with no suncream and still White, a month in Africa with no sunscreen and no tan, ditto Egypt and Tenerife.

Even fake bake in a salon didn't tan me as apparently it works with your natural melanin and I'm beginning to think I don't have much of it.

Me too. I'm fed up with people saying 'oh it'll turn lovely and brown though' if I ever go a bit pink. I feel like shouting at them because it doesn't. I am white then I go pink then back to white again.

I don't tan or burn. I can sit out for hours and nothing happens. My skin is fake tan proof too - I go darker as its being applied but my skin seems to suck the colour up and neutralise it
