Without it looking all greasy and heavy and flat?

It it ridiculously thick and very straiight. It looks shiny if i stand under a light but otherwise looks a bit mad and fuzzy.

I have heard good things about Moroccanoil - may be worth a shot?

Pure Argan oil

I think my only option would be shaving it all off and starting again! Watching with interest!

Sleeping in a silk or microfibre night cap a la Wee Willie Winkie is supposed to be very good. I've got a microfibre turban from poundland that I use with wet hair that seems to make a slight difference (which is not bad for a pound).

Is it normally dry and frizzy-ish?

My hair has recently improved by not shampooing the ends. I shampoo my scalp only with a tiny bit of shampoo and just condition the ends. Its made a huge difference.
I also oil from time to time and use a heavy conditioning mask thing once a week.

Permanent blow dry or Brazilian blow dry. But it costs a fortune. Lasts up to 5 months (for some, only lasted 2 months for me).

Google it.

coconut oil left on your hair overnight as a conditioner, then wash it out in the morning.

has TRANSFORMED my hair.
