Sweaty hot feet in ballet pumps

I'm such a catch Smile.

What can I do to avoid getting sweaty hot feet in ballet pumps? Rotate several pairs and wear a different pair every day? Wear those little not-sick things?

Is there anything that isn't ballet pumps but that will cover my toes (H+S requirement for my job)

there are some quite nice and funky airy trainer type things in Clarks just now.. i'll see if Ic an find them and do a link. do you wear trousers or skirt/dress?

molschambers · 24/05/2012 20:30

Charcoal in-soles or pumps with a leather lining.

RecursiveMoon · 24/05/2012 20:30

I usually wear skinny cords or leggings at the moment.

Ah, I just bought some Boden kid's pumps, which I've put insoles in. Not charcoal though, I haven't seen them.

Has anyone seen any woven leather ballet pumps? I'm thinking that airflow might help.

Geox breathable??

queenofthepirates · 24/05/2012 20:45

few drops of tea tree oil help sweaty feet round here

RecursiveMoon · 24/05/2012 20:47

I want these.

Scholl stinky foot spray and ballet flats with leather soles. £££ but you can't put a price on feet that smell of roses.

molschambers · 24/05/2012 21:08

Odor-eater insoles have charcoal in them.

I've got flats with leather lining from New Look in the past. Cheap as chips.

RecursiveMoon · 24/05/2012 21:11

Excellent, thanks for the tips. I might shop online later!

I worry that my work is a lost cause though - it's ridiculously hot, so I wonder whether wearing the least shoe possible is actually the answer.

I do actually like jelly shoes Blush quite a lot

I use roll on deodorant. Sit on bed, apply all over feet, waft feet around until dry. Much better than spray on, and much much cheaper than foot spray. Works a treat

DonaAna · 24/05/2012 22:17

Dust your feet with talcum powder.
People in hot countries do it all the time.

Have you tried slingbacks? Much nicer than ballerinas in hot weather.

RecursiveMoon · 25/05/2012 14:12

I just ordered these. I think they'll keep me cool, and I've wanted them for ages.

Thanks for all of the tips, I'll try them out Smile. After I've thrown away my very slightly smelly favourite black pumps.

cheap insoles that you can chuck when they get grotty. kiwi make some called fresh ins

steph124 · 25/05/2012 16:08

Try Toms, they're the only thing I can wear in this sweaty weather!

I'll try the talcum powder in my ballet pumps to see if that works. I got blisters from my ballet pumps on Monday my feet were that sweaty!

RecursiveMoon · 25/05/2012 18:46

Noooo, don't encourage me to buy Toms Grin! I've already gone from not liking them at all to thinking 'Oh, but they look so comfortable and breathable...'.

I re-invented socks earlier when so was thinking about this very problem: I was thinking about insoles, then I thought that washable insoles would be a good idea, then I thought washable insoles that surround your whole foot. Then I thought Oh, socks Blush.

See if you can get your smelly pumps out of the bin and sell them for £££ to the foot fetish perverts on eBay. Grin

RecursiveMoon · 25/05/2012 20:38

Ooh, really Grin? Gosh, they must be worth thousands.

Hi, I declared war on my feet last week! Unless I wear socks, my shoes become very smelly, and I do think I can smell the occasional waft! Dh and mum says no. I went to boots and bought pedi tech acti fresh foot spray. You spray it on every day for a week then once a week. I am really impressed!! Shoes don't smell and after wearing ballet pumps towards the end of the week, I was happy to take my shoes off and not be embarrassed.

I also bought boots own foot deodorant which I sprayed into my smellier shoes, and they smell much fresher now.

The pedi tech was just under £10 but says it lasts about 8 months.

RecursiveMoon · 27/05/2012 12:50

Thanks oneday! I just bought both of the things that you suggested!

OP posts:
onedaybaby · 27/05/2012 23:42

Fingers crossed. I'm using it once a week now so we'll see what happens, but so far so good :)

scripsi · 28/05/2012 02:10

I use OdorEater insoles, I've also found that rubbing one of those anti-bacterial alcohol-based hand sanitisers (on my bare feet) worked well when I was on my feet all day in ballet flats all day Saturday.
