Ash Hi tops... to wedge or not to wedge

Hello,

I'm looking at getting myself to Ash hi tops, i'm only 5ft so i'm considering the wedges, but i'm not sure if they'll really be comfy/casual enough as the flats, also what colour has everyone gone for? I wanted grey but they are out of stock to thinking of Clay.

Thanks,
K

Go for the flat ones, I am not keen on wedge trainers even though they are 'in' fashion right now. I have 2 flat pairs, gunmetal and bronze, both a couple of years old now.

monkeysmama · 21/05/2012 11:00

I've had both. I sold my wedge Thelmas and regret it! They were really comfy and looked especially good under skinny jeans. The wedge was pretty concealed and they were very leg lengthening. I like the flat ones I have too but not as much.

I've had three pairs - fango, metallic and chestnut. Remember they come up big!

Karbea · 21/05/2012 11:15

Do they?
I'm a size 3(36), I can't see any available in a 2 :(

I found the Ash wedge ones came up tiny.
John Lewis advertised their own wedge trainers in Grazia last week for £110 - but can't see them yet online. They look really nice too.
Can you not get 2 pairs - maybe off ebay?

monkeysmama · 21/05/2012 11:59

Try kids' ones? My dd has some (we don't wear them at the same time!)

I saw the JL ones too and agree they looked lovely.

TracyK · 21/05/2012 12:03

I have emailed JL asking when, where,how....

I have the Thelma wedges in Taupe leather and I love them. I'm usually a 4.5 and bought size 37, they fit perfectly and are surprisingly comfortable so I would think you'll be fine in a 36. They look good with skinnies, leggings and some skirts imo, although I tend to roll my skinnies up a bit rather than tucking them in as I think they look better than way.

Karbea · 21/05/2012 12:43

Ok thanks, so you think I should get a 3 if i'm getting wedges...

I could get 2 but they are a bit of a change from my normal style, so I want to try them out for a bit...

Right I think I'm going to get these www.coggles.com/item/Ash/Thelma-Black-Trainers/9UPN I want leather, but would have prefered a lighter colour, but can't find any :(

Or clay

Oh being indecisive, nit sure which to go for????

I would go for clay on the basis they go with more things. I always think black looks a bit off with blue jeans whereas light colours go with pretty much anything. Based on the ones I have I would recommend you get a 3 if that's your usual size. As I said, I'm a 4.5 usually and the 37 fit me perfectly.

Karbea · 21/05/2012 13:47

thanks suburban

I have the Ash genials - they have a mid wedge. At 5ft, I like the extra height and find them really comfy. They look good with skinny jeans and with my wide leg jeans. Mine are leather and were described as 'wax perkish' - no idea what that describes but they are a beige leather colour.
They do come up big. I'm a 4 and bought a 4 but I may well have fitted into the 3 I suspect.
cloggs.co.uk site had various styles - and they seem to have decent customer service. I ordered 2 pairs - returned one and after well over 2 weeks, I hadn't received a refund. I sent an email giving them a bit of a rollicking today and they refunded immediately.

i've got the Ash Bea in orange and tan and love them. I am a shortie at 5 ft 3 and like to have shoes I can walk miles in but also be tall, which means I end up buying some kind of Ash trainer every year. The wedges are my favourites, so comfortable and look great with skinny jeans and skirts. The stiletto heeled trainers with studs etc are also great. LOVE ash. Especially when they're on sale...

BobbiFleckman · 21/05/2012 20:29

PS I always buy half a size down in Ash

Bellebelle · 21/05/2012 20:30

Ladies, if you like the look of the JL ones go to Topshop website now and search wedge trainers. Really similar ones in beige or pale pink for £48. I've just bought the beige ones and I'm delighted given I did actually have a deranged moment a few months ago when I was going to buy the Marant ones of NAP but thankfully they sold out before I had the chance Blush

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 21/05/2012 20:39

Can't believe I'm going to share my style secret but if you're a size 3 or 4 you could afford both these colours and still have enough change for a weekend away!

dearprudence · 21/05/2012 20:40

I've had Ash genial and Thelma in my amazon basket for ages. I've just ordered the genials in black leather. I've never had much luck ordering shoes online before, but I'm crossing my fingers.
