Best place for vest tops that are LONG and STRETCHY?

My usual haunts of Esprit and Uniqlo seem to be 100% cotton, and I'd prefer some lycra in them to keep their shape. And (like all mums, surely) nice and long to cover the tummy. I could do with several colours really. Not spaghetti straps either, proper vest tops that will hide bra straps.

I'm not at all difficult, am I?

Thanks in advance.

H&M or maternity range from topshop have been longst I've found.

GiantPuffball · 18/05/2012 10:54

Fat face

H&M I have 2 of each of these in black, grey, white and navy and wear one pretty much everyday tucked into my jeans under whatever top I'm wearing. They tuck in jeans perfectly and never come out and I'm 5'8, straps wide enough to hide bra straps, they wash perfectly, some mine must have been washed 100 times by now and are as good as new.

I'm an 8 and buy an extra small so they are snug to keep warm and be smooth under long sleeved tops and when I find my size on the rack I hold them against each other to see which is longest as there seems to be some variation in length sometimes. They are perfect!

Crocodilio · 18/05/2012 10:58

H&M have a great range of vests. I really like their spaghetti strap ones, which are tight but stretchy, and really long, but they also have ones with wider straps that are also long. Loads of colours too.

naturelover · 18/05/2012 11:15

Why didn't I think of H&M? They look perfect - thanks so much.

Primark have some long length vests in stock with thing adjustable straps. Mine have kept their shape well and only cost £2

sheeesh · 18/05/2012 11:25

*thin

sheeesh · 18/05/2012 11:25

Sorry - just saw your point about thin straps

Primarnigirl · 18/05/2012 11:56

Definitely H&M, their vests are a great length

whatsapussycatdoll · 18/05/2012 12:04

sainsburys for about £5, very long and stretchy and wash well and good choice of colours.

Tannhauser · 20/05/2012 20:29

Sainsbury had some great ones in today- very long, wide straps, gorgeous bright colours- yellow, purple, green etc. £3 each.

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2012 20:32

I second Primark - lots of styles, lots of long ones (even on me and I am quite tall), lots of colours, the material is pretty good and they are only £2. What's to not like?

Mombojombo · 20/05/2012 20:43

Yes to Primark - thick enough straps, good range of colours (I've got about 7) and long. They're called 'my stretchy vest' or somesuch. They do exactly what it says on the tin.

ToastedTeacakes · 20/05/2012 21:19

I recently purchased one from Mango - pure cotton, stretchy and decent quality. Not skinny straps. Sort of long enough to almost cover my rear when pulled down.

Here: shop.mango.com/GB/p0/mango/clothing/tops/lace-tank-top/?id=63906268_37&n=1&s=prendas.tops&ie=0&m=&ts=1337544982772

Longer on me than shown on model of course (I am 5'4)

ToastedTeacakes · 20/05/2012 21:20

Ok there's 3% elastane in it! But it holds very well, seems durable and doesn't look cheap. Far, far better quality than Topshop, HM, etc.

LuvileeJubilee · 20/05/2012 21:22

Mamas and Papas. Discovered their jerseywear when pg and still wear the vests as they're lovely and long, thick stretchy jersey. Often reduced in store.

Schmokeandapancake · 20/05/2012 21:24

H & M.

Love that shop.

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 21/05/2012 11:17

I don't know your size but I find this company do nice long vests in different colours and styles if you are size 14 upwards.

bronze · 21/05/2012 16:12

Which of the H&M ones are longest Am 5 11 so need properly long

Thegoddessblossom · 21/05/2012 16:15

Another one here for Sainsburys - I bought them in black, black and white stripes and pink.

Primark are great for these kind of staple tops too.

Schmokeandapancake · 22/05/2012 10:20

I have a lot of the spaghetti strap ones-I am a bit shorter than you but they are very long on me.

Schmokeandapancake · 22/05/2012 10:21

Sorry-I was replying to bronze there, but realise you are not the OP?!

bronze · 22/05/2012 10:26

No I'm not but useful none the less. Thanks Smile

waitingtobeamummy · 22/05/2012 10:42
