Hair follicle stimulating shampoo - tried any?

I'm currently growing my hair for the first time since being about 7. It's going ok but I wouldn't mind it speeding up a bit! Heard about shampoo that can help but don't want to spend a fortune on shampoo if it doesn't work...anyone tried any? If so , verdicts? TIA
