Girls pants, socks and tights for a tall slim 4yo - before I go insane!

My 4yo is constantly uncomfortable in socks, pants and tights. She hates seams, labels, twists, wrinkles and today, 'a round circle' (wtf?).

She is tall and very slim, which makes things even worse. We particularly need things for school.

I will spend money if there is a brand which will work. It has to be available online as we live in a rural area.

Please help! God knows how many changes we went through today before school.

There was a thread about the seams and socks just last week I think. Not sure how to find it though.

I've found Gap pants work well for DD but I think someone said White Company ones are seamfree. They're ££ but might be worth a go.

I bought some seam free socks for DD here and they seem to have done the trick. I recommend the Elle multipack ones. They do have seams but they're really flat and soft. I've found turning socks inside out helps too.

Apparently there's a condition called Sensory Processing Disorder - don't want to freak you out but I know my DD ticks a lot of the boxes. Not sure if there's anything to be done about it though other than just accept that she finds a lot of clothes really uncomfortable and to try to find comfortable alternatives for her.

There were some good suggestions on the other thread: lots of soft jersey, leggings, etc. I've bought a few jersey bits of school uniform like pinafore dresses etc.

Thanks for the links. I've had a look at the Sensory Processing Disorder one but it;s nto really ringing any bells. I think it is useful for me to bear in mind that it is 'real' though. She is a very particular child in everything. Everything....................

Here you go. My DD is v particular too. Things have definitely been easier to deal with now I'm accepting that for her it's really real when she gets in a panic because "she can feel glitter in her sock" [when there's definitely no glitter there - clean sock, clean foot ] rather than getting irritated and telling her she's being silly.

I might give the White Company knickers a go. It doesn't say they're seam free but I can't see a seam in the picture. TBH, it's socks and tights that are the real problem. She doesn't complain about knickers so much.

Thanks! I have reservations as my daughter is not keen on blue. I'd hate her to spend £10 on two pairs of pants and for her to say they were 'boys pants.'

Dd is funny about pants and she hates the White Company ones that someone bought her, tbh they do look really uncomfortable, very odd shape. She is also 4 and very tall and skinny, I tend to only get her Boden pants now, they fit almost to her belly button and she loves them, they are thick but super soft.

Tights I either buy Boden a size too big (5-6) the ribbed ones are usually very soft, some of the others can come up small and scratchy. I also love H and M tights as they seem to come up huge again the ribbed ones are particually soft. Another to consider is Frugi, not much choice, but very soft, generous and well made.

Bamboo socks are much softer than cotton and dd likes them but they are hard to find in kids sizes, I got lots from boots 'Mini Mode' section once but I don't think they are still in production.

. Boden pants are good as they don't have that elastic waistband or leg bits you get on most other pants. Ditto Gap. DD1 has both and the Gap ones are very generous size wise though don't come up as far as the Boden ones. We have some plain navy Matalan tights for school in a 3-4 I think and they are huge - clearly designed for giraffes - I can't remember if there's a seam at the toe though.

I'll have a look at Frugi.

I couldn't find any tights in Boden. maybe it's a winter thing.

Has anyone tried Jojo Maman Bebe or Vertbaudet?

Our best socks are John Lewis school socks but the do cause problems. They do stay up but still need a lot of adjusting around the toes. I'll look inn our local 'green' shop for bamboo.

I've just ordered some flat seamed school socks from www.sockshop.co.uk. these ones. DD loves the other Elle socks I got from there. They're the only ones she'll wear now.

I'm not a big fan of Vertbaudet tights. I've found they come up a bit small and don't last well. The socks aren't particularly soft and most definitely have seams. Haven't tried their pants though.

That's good to know about White Company. I was thinking of getting some of their pants but won't bother now. I haven't tried Boden pants but will give them a go. Gap are good.

Can I just ask how you knew they were flat seemed? I read the description but didn't see that.

Really? Matalan? I gave up on their tights because they kept falling down. Maybe they've got better. Or perhaps DD is too skinny.

Petit bateau, Stella McCartney or Boden for tall slim girls, either of those are good in our experience but expensive.

We get our tights from Holland www.hema.nl where the average height of kids is taller and the fit is good on my slim DD

Hi, I searched for "seamless kids socks" and those came up. I think if you click for "more description" it goes on to say something about the flat seams...They are pretty flat though. I can vouch for them. I've just ordered a whole load more.
