Interview outfit help for converse and jeans girl

What does one wear to an interview these days?

You can see profile pics for a general idea of my shape. For the last few years I've been working in publishing wearing jeans and converse. Spoilt by relaxed office, and lazy!

Got an interview for an administrator PT in a small but fairly prestigious drama school.

I own a Next brown skirt suit circa 1999! Don't think it's going to be suitable.

And shoes, what do I do about shoes??

Help.

How about slightly quirky but still formal dress with these or flats?

PippiL · 16/05/2012 21:31

Ooh, nice. But I think I need something knee length...thighs aren't my strong point!

Is a pencil skirt and shirt ok, plus smart black mac. Or do I need to do a suit?

Argh this means lots of expense, as I don't really have shoes or handbag either.

What about a shift dress? Can either wear a jacket with it or cardigan depending on what is more suitable.

PippiL · 16/05/2012 21:46

I do own a really nice black coast shift dress, but it's pretty figure hugging and not sure if it's suitable.

Do I need to try on and show pics??!

How about a pencil skirt and a waistcoat over a blouse?

PippiL · 16/05/2012 21:56

I don't think that blouse would work for me, I have ginormous norks.

I got a bit trigger happy and ordered this blouse

Can always return if not right. But am thinking I could wear with a pencil skirt, or under a shift dress.

I bought some £15 patent court shoes from m&s for a wedding that arrived today but in coral pink. Am thinking they are so good for the money, I might order in black too.

dark coloured shift dress with cropped card?
wrap dress?
Wide leg trousers with fitted shirt?

a suit isn't necessary these days.

PippiL · 17/05/2012 07:50

Phew, that means the Next suit can go to the charity shop then!
