I really like these two dresses this one and this one in the rouge colour.

Firstly are these suitable, not too bridesmaidy?

I really like the second one in black but not really suitable for a wedding, and Im scared to buy blue as I dont own any blue dresses and it might look shit.

Also does anyone have any similiar suggestions (needs to be long and have ruched/flowing bits to hide lumps n bumps, and not be an overly patterned fabric neither) as both these dresses would need to be bought online from USA and worried about paying lots of money for a dress that doesn't come on time (wedding 3 weeks away).

Mmmm they're at bit evening dress style rather than day dress. I'd say no.

eurochick · 15/05/2012 17:39

Is it a black tie wedding? If not, i would say either of these is too formal. Sorry!

ok then, alternative suggestions anyone?

I think they are only suitable for an evening wedding or London hotel type wedding, they are too 'evening' for a church or similar in the day time particularly in the summer.

Go for a maxi dress, Mango have some lovely ones, I posted one I bought the other day but on phone now so can't link.

will have a look at mango online. Went into town today but all the maxi dresses were Summer dresses, thin cottony fabrics that i'd wear with flip flops, and would not feel comfortable wearing to a wedding. Also none had bits to disguise lumpy bits.

Am only joking really hard to fond a good dress at the moment , have also been looking for a wedding as above poster said Asos is good .

Tillyscoutsmum · 15/05/2012 18:13

this ?

tittytittyhanghang · 15/05/2012 18:37

would like a long dress, am tall so a long dress will make me appear thinner :) and legs are not fit to be seen naked at the moment! ted baker one would sit on my hips and make me look huuuugee :) The verity dress is getting closer but imo looks like a cheaper and not as nice version of my first dress :)

QUAII is pretty

waitingforgodot · 15/05/2012 22:20

I think the first one you posted in the OP is lovely. I think it could be worn to a wedding.

CockBollocks · 15/05/2012 22:25

Not ASOS!! Ted Baker site!!

If it's not a black tie wedding, but you still want long, how about

striped silk
v. simple dark blue silk

Admittedly, if you were comfortable going knee-length, there's a lot more out there - Anglomania has some particularly nice stuff this season.

tittytittyhanghang · 16/05/2012 11:28

oooh thanks for all the suggestions, yes I would prefer a long dress to hide in :) Wedding guest dress buying is so difficult, whod'ya thought!

Found a few more

fuschia - long and floaty
cornflower blue jersey
Phase8 purple maxi

thestringcheesemassacre · 16/05/2012 14:04

I love the Phase 8 maxis that Moonlight and TillyScout linked to. Esp in the purple-y colour. Are they definitely not too bridesmaidy? We have posh wedding in Devon and a black tie ball so I was hoping to wear to both.
