Try here

Beautiful and very like what you describe Smile

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 14:29

They are stunning but none are Empire line sadly...Sad Thanks for trying though!

My 12 year old niece would go postal if she was expected to wear one of those ...

HermanMumster · 15/05/2012 14:38

This sort of thing? Sold out in XS though

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 14:46

Herman she's 8 but much bigger than her peers.

Monsoon dress but not cotton

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 15:11

Ah...we love the Tulip and Nettle stuff UML thank you but they're too narrow on the chest.

What is your budget?

Here is a very pricey (but not cotton) dress from harrods, which is quite elegant:

It may even be worth getting one made by a seamstress.

Try tkmaxx, they have some nice things in there, a bit hit and miss sometimes though.

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 15:29

Lovely but I think the collar is too young really...I was looking for a seamstress UML and think that may be the way to go...but HOW ridiculouus is it when you can't find a cotton, classic dress for a child in age 11 to 12? Only Tulip and Nettle do one!

Is she in women's sizes yet?

UML · 15/05/2012 15:40

Yes, I found it very strange too... would expect monsoon or laura ashley to have some at least...

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/05/2012 15:42

no sleeves but chunky straps

blue stripe corsage dress

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 15:45

Thanks Gnocch but that blue dress is the wrong shape...empire line is when the waist begins VERY high up...and the fabric needs to be floaty...and no, she's in age 11 to 12...she's not developed or anything, just tall and broad...she's as biig as the junior girls...gorgeous...but needs to be dressed appropriately for her body shape and empire line suits her beautifully.

maybe with a capelet to cover tops of arms?

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 15/05/2012 18:05

that is so pretty heman but I should have been clearer...I meant a sort of Jayne Eyre dress..NO fullness at all..very a line and full length...with much less fabric in it.

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/05/2012 19:02

not officially empire line but the lace makes it look that way

thisisyesterday · 15/05/2012 19:24

gnocchi's is gorgeous!

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/05/2012 19:25

And I do think an 11/12 year old would be happier in it than some of the more 'traditional' dresses. Plus it could be worn again.

thisisyesterday · 15/05/2012 19:26

what about this one?

nancy75 · 15/05/2012 19:28

There is a site called just dresses, I would link but iPad is rubbish!

ggirl · 15/05/2012 19:28

gnocchi -she's only 8yrs old

trixymalixy · 15/05/2012 19:28

I love gorgeous?
