Going to a wedding four weeks after baby due

Hello, I have a wedding mid June and am due in a week. I haven't put on that much weight but will obviously have the comedy tummy and will be breastfeeding. I haven't as much as looked in the shops in the last nine months, so any suggestions of summer wedding outfits that would work around my figure would be appreciated. I am fairly tall and usually a size 12.

I had a look around Zara and there was a gorgeous lace turquoise dress with a elasticated waist that I love, but I can't find it on their webiste. Also I know a dress is probably a bad idea :(

Any help is much appreciated.

I reckon a maxi with spanx could work, given your height. There are plenty about that'd be suitable for BF

Scrap that, sorry. IME you need something with a print to disguise any little drips etc.

How about a wrap dress? Gives v easy access to feed!

I always feel quite exposed (belly wise) in wraps, but maybe that's just another one of my oddities?

I like the dove grey dress, not as much into the floatly tea length as pattern is not really me. And the turquoise one feels a bit too shimmery for this wedding. I love those shoes SO MUCH - but would be afraid of dropping the baby in them as haven't worn heels in so long.

Budget would probably run up to £100 for dress. My only reservation about the dove grey one is that I can't see me wearing it again.

I have more time at lunchtime so will try to look around wiht a maxi in mind.

When I had a wedding to go to at 3 weeks post birth with DC2, I shopped for a dress the weekend before. I think it is hard to tell what size will be the best fit in advance - firstly because of how fast the excess fluid is lost, and secondly because you don't know how big your norks will be and what dress they'll fit in. I went with heels but low ones as like you I wasn't confident in heels having not worn them for yonks.

That is what I was figuring I would have to do. This is my third baby. The weight fell off first time, but second time my buggered tummy muscles took a while to be licked back into shape, so I am assuming the same will happen this time.

When I did this (same time scale) I wore a dress I had worn at about 20 weeks pg, It covered the post baby belly and was strappy so easy to bf in with a pashmina over my shoulder.

I was you a year ago, and I bought a simple jersey maxi dress from P8 (same style as this but in bright green) and wore with jewelled flats and a wrap. Dress was stretchy enought that size wasn't too critical, nicely figure skimming and easy to hoik down for bf, while covering with the wrap. That being said it really clashed with the red baby bjorn I wore the baby in all day!

Yeah, buying postpartum would be wisest. I'd never have managed it TBH seemed to be permanently feeding and knackered.

Might a cheap back-up be a good plan?

I think the jersey maxi dress might be the way forward. I was hoping I could hoike myself into town before DH is off paternity leave to have a wee look around. I have a feeling too that this baby is going to be late :(

No that is not the Zara dress - the one I saw is much nice, paler and in lace. I have just searched again and found it lovely dress. Looking at it on the model it really wouldn't work that well with big norks :(

Mrs Lettuce, those DP ones look perfect for a cheapy backup, if I buy them now I could still take them back if I find something else.
