What to team with cobalt blue trousers

finally I have a pair that fit reasonably.

Spent my day wander through Meadowhall Shopping Centre to find matching items.

decided that only stuff worth teaming with em is white vest tops. Surely there is other stuff?

I don't want to send them back coz I like them and I really really really need to step away from jeans!

I'm a right bore but I wear this scarf from Nexthere with a plain white tshirt and my cobalt jeans with taupe blazer.

thenightsky · 13/05/2012 00:05

Nice scarf... not sure about taupe stuff though. Had mad moment in Zara when I thought an acid green open weave style knit might go okay.

Breton style tops? Pretty blouses and tshirts in greys and coral also look good with cobalt blue.

I would advise you to look at this link for some ideas:

MadaboutHotChoc thanks for the mention :)
thenightsky grey marl is good with coloured jeans. Also a fitted denim shirt/jacket over the white vest is a nice look. Nude coloured tops are good but only if you have the right skin tone for them - I look so washed out with nude unfortunately. Finally, as mad has suggested, breton stripes are always a good look with coloured jeans.
I've a coloured jeans post scheduled for this week - still working on it but prob Wednesday. Couple of friends have sent in pictures and I've a few in my red and my (lighter) blue jeans. So many people asking me about coloured jeans :)

lumbago · 13/05/2012 10:33

I tell you. It's hard. I had some last year. Greg marl yes but yawnsley.

Colored jeans are shit

lumbago · 13/05/2012 10:34

Shit. No to Breton. You'll look like a children's entertainer

thenightsky · 13/05/2012 10:56

Grey marl I can do, but is not very exciting. I have bought a bright yellow cardie in H&M which may do the job.

I thought these cobalt blue trousers would be the best option for teaming with other stuff I already have. How wrong I was! Perhaps I should have gone for the green ones.

The thing is, it's the trousers that are the exciting bit of the outfit. We are more used to bright tops - it's just about re-arranging the colour. I'm not a fan myself of brights up top also - that does make me feel like a children's entertainer. Marl/white/nude is good with a nice scarf/necklace to tie them together. I don't think green would have been any better - I brought back my green ones!

bigpants103 · 13/05/2012 11:17

I wear my cobolt blue jeans with a cream, grey, beige or white top/blouse normally but found some other colours that look nice like yellow, silver and pink.

I've also got a few scarves which have the same blue in that I wear to bring other colours in.

I am large of nork so don't usually wear light colours on top but have had a few compliments when I have.

stressheaderic · 13/05/2012 11:32

Coral does look nice but I wore a coral and white stripe tshirt with mine once and DP kindly pointed out that I looked like Where's Wally. He was right too.

fluffiphlox · 13/05/2012 11:41

An orangey colour top? Or grey with an orange necklace?

thenightsky · 13/05/2012 12:42

I like some of those links MrsLettuce Smile I never thought of black, and I do have a black blouse similar to your link already in my wardrobe.

I think one of my issues is they are quite a loose fit, so a loose top too makes me feel sort of loose all over. I tend to live in skinny jeans (boring) so this is a whole new look for me.

these are them

You could always pop a belt over the looser blouses. Often works really well.

thenightsky · 13/05/2012 12:45

Oh... and I cannot do red/orange/pink in any of its shades or forms. It washes me out completely and brings out the red in my eyes (imagine hung-over vampire as a 'look')

I wear mine with either white or white as the main colour/patterned vests. Also, plain black looks quite good. As someone else said, it's just about rearranging as you'd usually wear a bright top. I wear mines with a white patterned blouse as well: blue birds and black trees iirc.

ronx · 13/05/2012 15:04

I'm thinking a dark grey top. Then you can wear a funky scarf or necklace and it won't clash with your jeans.
