toenail removal and nail varnish!

Sorry, know it's not a pleasant subject, but having had my big toenail removed a year ago (stubbed toe on bed, damaged it so badly, had to be removed totally), with summer coming up I am keen to have nice looking feet..... does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the effect of a nicely painted big toenail?! Assume you can't paint directly onto skin area(?), don't know if you can buy false ones???! Any ideas welcome - thanks.

A friend who has no big toe nail uses false thumb nails and glues them on. You can buy just one size nail in bulk at beauty wholesalers so you don't need to buy full sets.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks very much, Dusty. Was just a bit worried about putting glue straight onto what is effectively now just hard skin! Thanks again. Smile

The whole of my big toe nail came off last spring but has fully grown back. I mentioned it to my beautician when booking a pedicure recently, by way of explaining why I hadn't had one all last summer. She said she would have out a false nail on for me, doh. Anyway the point of the story is to suggest maybe you get a beautician to do this first time?

I have just ordered 100 false toenails from amazon for £5.99. I have a tiny bit of toenail so fasten to that. Not sure about glueing onto skin but worth a try. I've done for the last few years and no one has noticed.

I had an extension and acrylic done, with a french pedicure. It looked great and lasted 6 weeks.

I had mine removed in my teens and went about 25 years without varnish until I discovered false toenails - you can buy them in Boots and they do stick to skin. It can be a bit disconcerting when they fly off if you catch them on something but this does cause much hilarity! I stock pile them in the Spring and paint several and always keep a spare one and some glue with me. Will look into buying just the big toe nail in bulk!

Iamamug Amazon do the bulk big toenails. I used to buy normal fingernail packs and just used the two biggest ones. Was chuffed to see a whole pack of 100 bigguns for the same price:)

I used to lose mine running. I painted the nail bed with no major issues. The actual bed heals to a callous hard surface (well mine did)!
