Going out top in maternity wear on high street - Impossible??!!

Argh, I got my dates mixed up for a hen party I'm going to tomorrow night, so what I ordered from ASOS wont be here in time Sad.

I'm stuck with highstreet, found some lovely bottle green jeggings which I got today but I can not find a top!

I have big boobs, (34g) so high necks are out. I've tried topshop, dps, H&M, New Look. Does anyone know anywhere else?

Might I be able to get a normal top - is there a trick/style to doing this? Really I want something nude-ish coloured and lace and fitted.

I'm 28, size 10/12 and 21 weeks.

thanks Obviously, I just looked and it's all a bit grown up for me; looked in JoJos too, no luck.

Mmm I just had a proper look, not great eh?
Why are some maternity clothes so ugly!

chocoroo · 12/05/2012 08:57

Topshop ha some nice stuff.

I usually think I'm too old for it nowadays but their maternity stuff was the only non-frumpy stuff I could find last year.

Saying that, my fave going out top while preggers was a lace, beaded cardigan from Topshop worn with a simple vest top.

Plain tshirt, fabric glue, sparkly bits from the haberdashery?

Glittery cardi/shrug/wrap from non-maternity over plain clothes?

Ooh Dotty Ps looks a bit more promising?
linky

Just experiment with a few normal styles - not sure how much you are showing at 21 weeks, but you should be able to pull it off?

Even if it means going with something you are okay about (a top, or even a short dress type thing), and accessorising well

Something suitable: having an a line cut, or with folds in the front... a lot of styles these days are quite flowy...

Or even rethink the jeggings, maybe get a dress which suits..

have you tried tkmaxx? They have a wide range of everything in there!

high neck but low too!

Have a look at non maternity stuff too. I am 34 weeks with 34g boobs too and I have a going out top I got from Dorothy Perkins that I got when I was 12 weeks it isn't maternity and still fits. Admittedly at the beginning I was wearing it with leggings and now it's to short for that but still looks good with jeans. Look for longer tops and try them on even if you don't think they will work you may be surprised. My top is only one size bigger than I wore pre pregnancy and I am measuring big about 36 weeks. I find cowl necks works quite well with big boobs. Also you can try jazz up with sparkly cardigan or jewellery.

Thanks everyone for the fab suggestions; I headed in to DPs this afternoon and ended up buying a dress kind of like this but in navy print in a size 14, which fits for now and I will wear after baby is here.

and we HAVE to wear green as part of the hen theme so I bought these shoes.

Thanks for all the fab suggestions Wine all round!
