What do you wear when on a (hot) dinner date with DH ?

DH has his 40th coming up soon & I need some ideas what to wear for dinner dates. I have a couple of wear-with-tights dresses & a dress I wore to a wedding (bit silky & shiny), which aren't going to cut it this summer.

I'm 39, short, fairly trim but not good in heels & in need of help please !

Good perfume, cleavage, no pants and a smile

What sort of colours do you suit? Would you wear a maxi? 'cause that takes the pressure to wear heels off.

I'm an autumn (so navy/black/dark warm colours) if that helps & a bit short for a maxi I'm afraid. I suit on the knee fitted things.

Can't go knickerless as I rely on them to stop me wobbling . Can just about manage a 2.5-3 inch heel.

Perfume & cleavage is a great start though !

For mine, a top with one more button undone than would be proper and trousers that might show a hint of thong.

Do you think I should have nude with the lighter dresses ? I've sliver sandals which, although old, are still lovely & a height I can wear. Or else should it be black heels ?
