What type of jackets do you have?

Are aviator/biker type jackets a good buy? I have a casual spring jacket (Boden photographer) also a wool tailored jacket which is quite smart but I can also wear with jeans etc. I tend to wear a long cardigan for inbetween weather.

If I'm going to buy a jacket what sort should I get? I don't mind spending a bit on an investment piece that I'll get a lot of wear of out.

Funnily enough Barbour have a lovely range by Alice Temperley. V pricey but a bit different.

Hmmm, I'm quite tempted by the suede Isabella Oliver jacket above. But it's an expensive item to buy without trying it on. Do they have any shops?

biker jacket is a good move

Do you mean a leather biker jacket? I have red, tan & black and wear one every day. They're perfect for this kind of weather & with warmer layers underneath for autumn. I wear my black one over dresses / sparkly stuff when I go out too. Massimo Dutti have a beautiful tan one in atm.

It might be worth trying a cheaper one and if you get on with it then make an investment purchase? Dorothy Perkins have a brilliant linen one in lots of colours (the fit is larger I found) and Zara are doing very well with jackets this season.

Dancergirl, I bought a Boden Photographer a few months ago, then saw, and fell in love with, a gorgeous grey-brown suede biker jacket in our local vintage shop (it was Oasis, so hardly vintage, IYSWIM). I hummed and hahed for days, but ended up buying it, and so glad I did! I have worn it a lot (although not in the rain); it goes with jeans, skirts, short tops, long tops....

That Isabelle Oliver one is nice - you can always return if it's not right.

Definitely a trend that shows no sign of going away.

Thanks. Hard to tell what the fabric is like from the pic - I'll try to remember to have a look at it irl tomorrow.
