fabulous Grin

My hairdresser has just started doing them so it was nice and cheap - £90. I can't wash my hair for 48 hours and it's very straight for now but It's soooooooo shiny!!!

How long is it meant to last? It sounds perfect for when I grow my hair out a little.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 15:41

She said 3 months. I have slightly wavy hair which goes a bit frizzy in this crappy mizzly weather and she said it would help a lot with that.

Can you have it if you have bleached highlights?

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 15:49

I have a full head of highlights Morris Smile

It was mostly keratin on the bottle I think. Most importantly my hairdresser uses it on herself and looked fine on it

Mine is fabulosa and only £24 quid from Amazon. On my second lot, third waiting for next use...

DonkeyTeapot · 09/05/2012 15:59

Sounds intriguing, safety issues aside. But.... £90 is nice and cheap?

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 16:00

It's £200-£400 in London - it's not cheap but it's waaaaaay cheaper than normal.

Ah :) I'd love my hair to be all lovely and manageable and not a mess, what's this thing from Amazon, KatieS?

There are loads of different products out there all marketed as Brazillian Blow Drys. Some are mainly keratin and others have peroxide or Shock formaldehyde in them. It's definitely worth checking out what you are buying.

I had a - non-scary ingredients - one before Christmas - about £150 including about 3 months worth of products and a second blow dry. (You have to use special shampoos and conditioners or the whole thing just washes out.)

The worst bit was the dead straight hair for 3 days, I practically ran into the salon for my day 3 wash and blow dry. Gorgeous soft and manageable hair. Though it didn't last that well, maybe only a month for the full effect.

tara0202 · 09/05/2012 16:23

I had it done last year. I also have bleached highlights and had no disturbing side effects!

Mine didn't last anywhere near 3 months but it was nice for a while. I think I wash mine too much.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 16:26

Yes, I have to use sulphate and paraben free shampoo/conditioner - I've got loads of Liz earle and some of that Superdrug 'Pure' stuff though.

I also wash every day so I've no idea how long it will last for me but I wore a helmet in a previous job so I have wispy bits round the front that always go frizzy when any hint of moisture touches it so really I just want that bit to be better.

The Organix Coconut stuff for brazillian-ed hair is divine.

I gave my excess to my SIL to try. Her hair is bleached blonde and very naturally frizzy curly. She is also allergic to loads of things.

She was a hairdresser herself and was gobsmacked at the effect on her hair.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 16:32

Isn't it really hard to do the back of your head???

OP posts:
KatieScarlett2833 · 09/05/2012 16:34

I got DD to do it. I would have struggled alone as my hair is wiry, thick and long. Or rather, USED to be wiry...

SIL managed to do herself, no problem.

Willowisp · 09/05/2012 16:36

I have the other pack in the make from Amazon. I don't think I coated the hair enough, but managed quote a good effect, obviously wearing off now though because I am frizzing today.m

It's quite easy to do the back of your hair - be sure to wear gloves & stand next to an open window though, otherwise your eyes will stream & you won't be able to see properly Wink

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2012 16:40

Whatever the hairdresser used on me didn't smell at all, no chemically smell, hair doesn't smell now, no fumes. I don't have sensitive skin though.

Second time's the charm Willowisp

YY to the open window, especially when applying heat . The keratin smells like chocolate, I thought.
