I refuse to wear pastels!

I am sorry but I look awful in peach and baby blue plus I cannot stand to wear the awful fashion I already wore 20 years ago. I have been shopping twice now trawling all the usual places and I cannot find a single thing!
Oasis yesterday was either Black (not terribly spring like) or evil pastels. Plus there are loads of teeny flippy skirts - who the hell can wear those? Why do shops insist on doing whole collections of clothes that look ridiculous on anyone over 30?

Perhaps cos their target market in under 30s and they want to exclude you as you'll put their younger customers off Wink

I think there are lots of lovely things around this spring. You don't have to wear pastel jeans, you could go for a darker colour. There are still lots of maxis and midis around if you don't want short skirts. Lots of bretons in all sorts of non pastel combinations.

I totally hear you on this... I look dreadful in pastels and hate that so many otherwise nice summer clothes are in wishy washy colours which make me look completely drained. And yes, I agree that most of what's in the shops can only be pulled off by those under 25, and skinny under-25s at that. Hmph!

I know just what you mean. It's all so 1980s Freemans catalogue at the moment.

What's breton? Blue and white stripes? That's an 80s thing I wouldn't mind resurrecting.

Pinkglow · 04/05/2012 12:44

Im saving a fortune in clothes this spring as I like nothing in the shops at the moment.

AphraBehn · 04/05/2012 13:46

I look like shit in pastels and neutrals and there is only so much coral and navy you can buy :(

eurochick · 04/05/2012 14:08

I hear you! I posted a similar thread a couple a days ago. There are many posters who feel the same!

I'm having similar problems. I look shit in most of the colours on the high street.

In GAP the other day I saw what can only be described as a High-Vis top. It was Motorway Recovery Driver yellow. Most people look horrid in pastels except old ladies and babies

Danceswithdragons · 04/05/2012 16:17

I had my colours "done" last year. I am deep, cool, and bright, also known as a Winter. I look like I have died if I wear pastels!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/05/2012 16:19

When I was a baby if my mum put me in pink people would say "oh is she ill?", so she put me in blue.

So everyone thought I was a boy instead.

They make me look ill too, I think on some blondes they look stunning though.

New Look had some proper coloured skinny jeans the other day - indigo, burgandy, stone etc. Shame the quality is a bit crap.
