Pale skin coming out of the shadows

Just started a thread to say I?m really happy at the current fashion for pale skin.

Red carpet photos these days show that pale skin is definitely in fashion again and not just amongst the usual pale skin flag flyers such as Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman. New pale devotess are Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, Evan Rachel Wood. Even celebs lower down the food chain such as Amanda Holden or Dannii Minogue who would previously have been tangoed are now if not pale, then a lot closer to their natural skin tones. Personally I've given up fake tan after over a decade's worth of usage and couldn't be happier. No more exfoliating, rubbing in , waiting to dry, watch it peel off 4 days later and repeating. For me pale skin now looks much fresher and more elegant when compared to tangoed tones.

Disclaimer: This definitely isn't a 'pale skin is better than dark skin' thing, it's more a 'natural skin tone is better than being daubed with Ronseal' thing.

I'm keen too, if only because I'm very pale skinned myself and I've never managed to find a fake tan that looks realistic on me - probably because my skin burns rather than tans.
I'd be keen to hear any advice from anyone about how to even out skin tone on pale legs though. I always see magazines recommending fake tan to make legs look good and that just doesn't work for me. Any experts out there got any good ideas?

Ooo yes, I'd be happy to bear my ghostly paleness if it was porcelain or alabaster clear instead of the delightful corned beef effect on my legs and upper arms! Any tips (other than drink water, exfoliate & exercise cos I do all them) most welcome!
