Basically, have had the biggest most horrendous haircut.... and now my once 'pretty' hairstyle (as told to me by dd1's riding teacher today) is now 'frumpy and unsophisticated' (equally told to me by riding teacher. It is now about 3 inches allover and layered and AWFUL!!! Feeling very very low about, poor DH doesnt know what to do, I am loathed to go back to the hairdresser that cut my hair yesterday who I have only had do my hair a few times, and have made an appointment with my old hairdresser who is over an hours drive away, but he cant see me till Friday! I cant see that having any more cut off is going to make the situation any better and I wondered if hair extensions would do the trick..

Today I nearly cancelled all arrangements so I wouldnt have to go out, how shallow am i???? and am relieved that i wont have to see any mums at school next week cos its half term.

Have a play around with it, maybe some colour could be added to 'unfrump' it. One of the mums at the school my dd goes to has plum in her v. short hair and is looks really striking and trendy. Hair extension can look a bit ropey imho unless you spend alot of money.

Are you a close friend of your dd's riding teacher or is she just very rude?

mrspink27 · 10/02/2006 20:34

spoken to my old hairdresser! i text him last night as i was so upset... and he said he thought i would need a full head of extensions (thank heavens for an empty credit card!)

LOL riding teacher is a friend and reknowned for her honesty.... she said when I got there.... what has happened to your pretty hair????
I said...dont even look at it its awful
She said.... its a very frumpy unsophisticated hair cut... and so the convo went on!

go to a branch of 'accessorise', they have some lovely hair slides which you can use to dress it up if that helps. can't believe someone would be so rude as to say that to you. you might find that your old hairdresser says its not as bad as you think and its more to do with the styling of the cut.

mrspink27 · 10/02/2006 20:52

thing is she want being rude, it really is a very unsophisticated frumpy haircut, and VERY unflattering!!! which is why i dont think going shorter will be any better.

Get the extensions you will never feel right if you hate your hair. Are you in London?I used to work at Antenna in Kensington and they are excellent

cece · 10/02/2006 20:54

buy a hat and wait 4-6 weeks then get it sorted - surely it isn't that bad?

mrspink27 · 10/02/2006 21:19

noddyholder does it matter if my hair is quite short? i.e. 3 1/2 to 4 inches all over? i'm not in london, but i will be travelling to my old stylist in essex.

That is long enough.Layered is good too as they look odd attached to one length straight hair
I had a really awful fring cut into long hair and they matched it in perfectly til it grew back I loved them.

mrspink27 · 10/02/2006 21:25

ooh yeah its layered alright! so much for i think i'd like to grow my layers out and dont cut much off just tidy it up and get the shape back into to..... do you know if bonded or woven are better? I am really concerned that i will look like i have had ropey old extensions put in! (to quote pinotmum!)
