Following on from an earlier thread about dressing like French women, I'd love some advice on getting a chic Italian look. Having lived in jeans and t-shirts forever, I am desperate for a new look. Kids finally all at school, no more food stains! I'd like to look half decent. Any ideas?

I find The Sartorialist really good for ref.

Puffa jackets or those quilted jackets are ubiquitous in Italy (or used to be, not been for a while). Whilst I think Italians are smart and take dressing well quite seriously, they are quite conservative dressers (huge sweeping generalisations there, I'm sure)

Conform, Conform, Conform.

I was really disappointed, by the Italian fashio. Every single woman had on skinny jeans, riding boots and a puffa jacket. Maybe it's different in the summer, but in winter they all look exactly the same.
