OK here's a challenge.

I need to find a 'work' outfit that fills the following criteria:

  1. Needs to be relatively formal as my job will involve attending formal events (think weddings)

  2. It needs to be fashionable and a bit trendy (arts world look), deffo not suits.

  3. Needs to be fairly subtle and subdued colour and pattern wise. I can't stand out from the crowd or 'outshine' anyone at the events. I tend to suit plainer styles and single colours rather than patterns anyway.

In the past I've worn black wide legged trousers, a thin black turtle neck top, chunky silver jewellery and high boots, but I'm looking for either a dress or skirt this time.

I'm 5'8" size 12-14, short brown hair, pale colouring.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

A wrap dress?

Fimbo · 10/02/2006 14:14

here

Thanks

I did think of a wrap dress. That's the kind of thing I had in mind.

Are there any other styles out there at the moment which are similar as it seems wrap dresses have been around for ages now and I fancy something a bit different.

Hmm, what's your job calicopie I'm intrigued! )and a nosy cow!)

I was thinking wrap dress too, you can get some in a nice print. Look good over jeans/trousers too for a v trendy look. Add beads and bangles.

Thanks ladies. Love shirt dresses too so I may give those a try.

Killeryogurt, It's nothing that axciting I'm afraid. DH and I have a photography business and we're doing more and more wedding photography. Not stand up straight holding top hat stylee with soft focus. More black and white documentary style. Hence the need to blend into the background a bit so I don't outdo the guests, to look professional but also to have a trendy edge as we are marketing ourselves as a trendy photography company.

Thanks again ladies, you've given me lots of food for thought.

p.s. any ideas on fashionable shoes which I can be on my feet all day in. I don't have a problem with heels but they have to be relatively practical and comfy.

oviously it's not at all axciting. Not even exciting in fact.
