I really enjoyed wearing a pair of cropped (mid calf) grey wool trousers over the winter. I am planning to get something similar in lighter weight fabric for the summer, and I also live the look of the cropped chinos that are around (either calf or ankle length).

I always wore my winter cropped trousers with heels and u can't get my head around what type of flats might look good with them- other than brogue type things which I know are 'in' but I don't like wearing.

Any advice would be so welcome- I am planning a late night shopping trip to Gap and River Island to look at their cropped chinos do I would love to know what flats might look good.

My very stylish friend advised me that the flats have to be extremely flat, no heel at all. Loafers, moccasins, or sometimes they're called driving shoes.

Then she directed me to Tods... Hmm far too expensive for my pocket so I'm now on a so far fruitless search for similar.

Rolled up trews can look good with a chunky wedge if you have slimmish ankles

Otherwise, if flat I woudl say something not too 'closed in', eg something quite strappy and flat, like a gladiator sort of

Well that what suits me more, anyway
