Best high street leggings

BornToFolk · 19/04/2012 19:19

I need to replace my New Look black leggings as they are getting a bit threadbare.

What can I get, on the high street (as need them tomorrow - no time for online orders), that are decent quality without being extortionate?

I just want cotton-rich, full length, black (or possibly some other plain dark colour) leggings.

Someone on another thread recommended American Apparel. However they're too expensive for me (about £25 iirc).

Hopefully someone else will come along with something a bit more affordable.

breadandhoney · 19/04/2012 19:27

I have a pair from next and one from oasis that are withstanding the test of time.

fluffydressinggown · 19/04/2012 19:27

Sainsburys, Matalan, Primark

BornToFolk · 19/04/2012 19:33

Thanks for suggestions! Am browsing the American Apparel site now - it's legging heaven! But yes, pricey and not available tomorrow

breadandhoney, I tried Next today but they are all nylon.

fluffy, I can't get into Primark leggings. They don't seem to be cut to allow for an arse!

Oh just the thread I was thinking of starting!

My M&S ones seemed really good quality but they don't seem to have lasted the distance for the price.

I wonder if dance tights or similar might fare a bit better?

1gglePiggle · 19/04/2012 22:36

Warehouse ones are really thick and long lasting. I've had mine for 4 years, wear them loads and they're still going strong. Cost about £12 I think.

Avoid top shop, river island ones as they don't last 5 min.

startail · 19/04/2012 22:40

DD1s next ones are ok, I have some BHS ones which are surprisingly good.

My Great Plains ones are beautifully soft but fall down. Probably a large arse problemBlush

Spookey80 · 19/04/2012 22:59

White stuff?

PillarBoxRedRoses · 19/04/2012 23:03

Fat face are the best I have come across and they are about 12 quid

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 10:06

I've recently lost over 2st so had a spending spree this week. Bought some leggings from m&s, H&M, next and asda and my favourite are the asda ones. they were £6. They are really thick. Got some in navy, brown and black. They do a few different fabric ones but I've got the cotton mix ones and love them,

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 14:41

bigpants,well done!

Do you agree re:the M&S ones being extremely disappointing or is it just me?

FaceCrack · 20/04/2012 14:44

Mine are M&S and they are rubbish. They've gone really saggy especially round the knees.
Apparently white company do good ones but I imagine they are a bit pricey.

JannerBird · 20/04/2012 14:44

Another vote for Fat Face here.

BornToFolk · 20/04/2012 15:14

I bought some Warehouse ones! I did try Fat Face but they had none at all in my local store.
The Warehouse ones appear to be good, not see through at all. They were £14. Only had black though...Sad

What colour are you lot wearing then?
I don't seem to be brave enough for anything but black!

FunnyLittleFrog · 20/04/2012 17:15

I like my Top Shop ones. The longer length ones seem to be better quality than the usual ones. Size down though.
I have black and burgundy.

nomoreminibreaks · 20/04/2012 19:39

Thank you for this thread! Just ordered some warehouse ones but got them from asos so got free delivery rather than paying £3 for warehouse delivery. Just thought I'd share the tip. They only have size 16 left though...

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 20/04/2012 21:11

Another vote for Asda at £6.
