Feeling in a right old panic. Am going to a party in a London nightclub this weekend - and not a clue what to wear ... and cannot remember what I used to wear when I lived in London and used to do this. I'm early forties and a size 10/12 hourglass figure and about 5 ft 8 and have shoulder length brown hair. Have spent 4 hours trawling the shops and have bought nothing ! Tried dresses on in Karen Millen Reiss and Whistles - liked a couple of them but not really sure. I want to get something I like and will wear again and will spend up to £200 or so if I have to. It needs to be a dress as the place has a strict dress code - any ideas ?! Am getting a bit desperate now !

Have you looked at Ted Baker? Lots of great dresses in your price range there.

Yes went in there but didn't try anything on _ it was my last shop and was a bit confused by then ! Will have a quick look at their website and see if it's worth a revisit . Also went into French Connection but the dresses I liked in there were more than £200 - never knew the place was so expensive

phase 8?
LK bennett?

I know it will sound boring, but a LBD would do the trick and be so useful. I bought a really nice one,v fitted, round neck, just above knee length with an exposed zip to make it a bit more "fashion forward" and jazz it up with modern collar necklaces and cuff bracelets....was complemented on it last week by stranger and once asked if it was VBeckham!!!!! Good old D P!! Have worn it loads and black is always chic and can look more expensive than it is.

hi there

I was admiring a nice black dress on whistles website recently......loved it but didn t have a reason to buy!

Have you looked at massimo dutti this is nice i though you could wear it again ... I d probably put some great nude or gold heels a blazer and yellow/gold handbag? maybe a skinny belt ?

All saints have a great black skater dress - there s kind of exposed zips around the seams - it s lovely.

Can you say the name of the club? Or which tribal village part of London it's in? Coz Phase 8 or LK might work in Kensington but would go down like a lead balloon in Dalston!

It's somewhere around Mayfair - would be happier if it was Dalston as used to live near there and would know what to wear !
