Searching for the perfect nude lipstick/gloss

justtryingtodomybest · 14/04/2012 20:34

I am constantly on the search for a lipstick/gloss which gives the effect of natural lip colour but with the sheen of a gloss (similar to what Amanda Holden is wearing on BGT tonight for anyone who is watching).
I don't want anything too pale - I'm not going for that kind of 60s look - but something very close to natural.
I appreciate that everyone's lips will be a different colour - but does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd have a look at Bobbi Brown - I used to get a very natural lipgloss from there but can't remember the name of the shade, sorry

Sometimes nude colours can wash fair/cool skin tones out so try a pale pinker shade. Also nude( with yellow undertones rather than pink) tends to make teeth appear more yellow. I like Bobbi Brown sandwash

My vote goes for Estée Lauder Crystal Baby or Chanel Boy, which is more pink than Crystal Baby. I also saw MAC's Bare Again being used in a Pixiwoo video recently and I'm wondering about giving that a whirl. Sorry about these all being expensive options although I did get my Crystal Baby on eBay for a whacking great discount.

I have Estee Lauder Tender Mauve which has that same effect for me... not at all mauve-y really, not like you would expect from the name. Anyway I really love it!

Me too. I have a cheapy one that I bought in poundland Blush and it's perfect, but when I went back in a panic to get more they had none left.

I can't see a label on it either Sad

For that effect I usually outline lips quite heavily with a nude/natural pinky pencil then fill in lips with plumping clear gloss and rub together until the liner is sort of smudged in It looks really natural but still defined.

Clinique Guava Gold lipgloss is nice- I am on my 6th tube I think.

Otherwise experiment with something cheaper like L'Oreal or Rimmel.

MAC Hug Me or Creme Cup lipsticks are lovely, very neutral coloured and moisturising!
