Best type of bag to use for a night out (with dancing)

Last few times I have been out I have used my clutch bag but have found it a pain to hold. I get bored of holding it when there is nowhere safe to put it down, going to to loo (where do you put it?) and holding it when dancing. But when I have worn a shoulder bag I find they come off my shoulder when dancing (I promise I do not dance like a mad women Blush ). I have also worn an across the body bag and felt like I was going to a school disco!!
So what is the best solution? What is stylish but practical?

a clutch that converts to across the body - what's your budget?

Didn't know you could get one of those!! Budget hard to way up as I don't go out that much, but maybe upto £40/£50?

Just out of interest Miss foodie is that what you use? I am wondering if I am the only one that finds this a problem Blush my friends often put there bags on a nearby table or chair but I am too paranoid that someone will pinch them! Maybe it's just me.......

I have 3 :)
2 cheapies and one nice one, but it's £220..........
essentially you need a clutch with a removable/hideable strap that you keep inside and can attach at a later stage when needed

Most of these clutches are also cross-body. I have a wee black suede one that's dead comfy.
