This might be a really stupid question but is it possible to dye your hair grey? My hair is currently 1/4 grey 1/4 brunette and I cant wait for it all to turn a lovely steely grey! Can I help it along?

You can't really dye it grey (the effect is not the same), but you can have platinum blond highlights put in to enhance the grey

I saw a young girl with dyed grey hair recently. She looked like something out of UFO, she looked great.

Yes, but you have to bleach it, then use Schwarzkopfs' Touch of Silver shampoo

Interesting thread Grin

I have loads of grey mainly just at the top and front, but I'm sick of dying my hair - it's a 3 weekly thing at the moment, not helped by the fact that I'm naturally brunette and dying my hair red!

Maybe I should just go grey gracefully - butim only 33 Sad

You can bleach it then use a silver dye, but its not the same, as grey is sort of white really and bleached hair is yellow from the keratin.

Mega highlights plus silver shampoo or a platinum dye will help it "blend" as you grow it out.

Colour removers wont expose grey.

Its a lengthy process.

I have gone grey very early, and love not having to colour any more, and especially no more ROOTS which I hated. Maybe wont help you at your stage, but I have found that a good spray of dry shampoo really lifts the colour, and I look really silver instead of grey IYSWIM.
