So exactly what length are 7/8 length trousers?

I keep reading references to 7/8 length - what length are they? Ankle, above ankle - are they this seasons length for cropped? Someone enlighten me please!

They are ankle bashers, or, if you are 5'3 like me, well fitting trousers.

So they actually hit the ankle then as opposed to sitting above it? Does one not run the risk of looking like a child growing too tall for their trousers?

In theory they should be flattering because they end at the thinnest part of the leg, exposing a dainty Hepburn-esque ankle - unlike 3/4 length trousers which which often end at the chunkiest part of the calf.

In practice, they look better when they are quite a bit slimmer than the ones in the link, more like skinny jeans which have been cropped at ankle length (no idea if that's the current fashionable shape, mind you)

I love 7/8 ths they're much more flattering than capris and are perfect for this time of year.
