I tried some George at Asda make up and guess what!

It was seriously shit! A total waste of money

I know i was probably being a tad over optimistic but we are broke and I was desperate for some make up.

The concealer couldn't hide even the slightest blemish and the mascara seemed like it didn't even have anything in the tube.

You'd think I'd have learnt by my age that cheap make up is always crap

You ought to try Boujois. Seriously good value Smile

FourYolksAche · 08/04/2012 23:05

Barbara Daly at Tesco - the bees knees. Lovely foundation 'Facelift' and the matching moisturiser, have replaced my Estee Lauder for the summer Smile and six squid each.

I can recommend the asda brow pencil in blonde. I use it every day and it's great as no red tones in it at all

Tranquilidade · 08/04/2012 23:40

Aldi stuff is good, well worth a try

LesserOfTwoWeevils · 08/04/2012 23:42

Nyx is good, and a lot of the colours are duplicates of posh brands.

ladymariner · 08/04/2012 23:54

I tried the mascara from Aldi just to see what it's like, £2.79, and I actually liked it.....especially as I got coerced into buying some Benefit stuff for £18 and thought it was crap, preferred my usual Rimmel stuff.

nickseasterchick · 08/04/2012 23:56

As you are a bit skint id say go to the £1 shop, latest bargains in there include:a rimmel foundation in my usual colour,a collection 2000 mascara in black(thickening one),pearl nail varnish and pink lipstick both in same bag, collection 2000 lipgloss in a nude colour .....really fab!!.

Tesco also do a cheaper version of makeup called 'vivo' their eyeshadow and lipsticks and glosses are nice but the foundation is a bit draggy and mascara watery(top price £5)

Aldis lacura is very good, the foundation is ok,lipsticks lovely and mascara good but not thick enough for me.

nickseasterchick · 08/04/2012 23:57

Was wondering if you took it back and explained your issues with it they might refund? their products say if your not entirely satisfied please return with xx days for a full refund.

kickmewhenimdown · 08/04/2012 23:58

yip, totally agree, I bought the all in one foundation and it was so absolute shit! Barbara Daly stuff is much better for the price. The best foundation i ever had was the rio so perfect system but too much like hard work for everyday use! But my face looked fucking flawless!

ManicPanic · 09/04/2012 00:22

Love bourjois and No7 for make-up. Also maybelline.

In the asda near me they have a section with maybelline stuff, marked down, I've got that before but never used asda stuff - thanks for the warning!

I do lurve benefit but none of their products have worked for me and too expensive to get regularly anyway.

QuinnFabray · 09/04/2012 10:38

Superdrug's MUA range is pretty good, and only a pound an item. Well, the blushers, lipsticks and eyeshadows are anyway, haven't tried anything else. And Boots often have a 3 for 2 offer on their cheaper make up brands. I've tried bits from Natural Collection and Collection 2000 and all have been pretty good.
