April wedding, can I wear opaque tights?

Or is that wrong? Day and evening guest.... Struggling to find anything in time, so after a quick wardrobe shop I've come across a dress which might be suitable but it needs opaque tights.
Thanks

I think wear whatever you feel comfortable it.

I have am April wedding too, its tricky isn't it. Think Im going to either go bare legged or leg coloured tights.

ameliameerkat · 06/04/2012 20:53

I'm at a wedding tomorrow and I'll be in opaque tights - it's freezing! Another wedding in two weekends time and I think I'll be in opaques for that too!

chocoroo · 06/04/2012 20:59

Depends on weather tbh. I generally dislike opaque tights if you have bare arms full stop though so if you do is old go with nude tights or leg make up.

Can we see the dress? Smile

BranchingOut · 06/04/2012 21:06

I think you have to look at the weather on the day.

suntodayplease · 06/04/2012 21:06

Animula, It's no longer available online, but it's navy with a black waist band

Drat.
I've an April wedding and am currently in wedding-guest wedding-dress hell. Have kitted out son and daughter but ... I'm fretting about me.

Can I pry and ask what sort of style yours is? And, crucially, how long?

I have a lace, nude colour thingy pencilled in for me (so I'll be shivering in bloddy "American Tan" or its modern equivalents) but I'm worried it's too short. And too tight - but that's another issue altogether.

animula · 06/04/2012 21:11

"Drat", by the way, was directed at not being able to borrow a little inspiration from a picture of yours.

animula · 06/04/2012 21:16

Sorry, I've been rude. You could always wear one pair of tights and pack another pair in your bag. The opaques will only be a no no if a. it's sweltering or b. it's a v. formal crowd for the wedding and suddenly your opaques look all bohemian in the assembled company. If a. or b. occur, you could, at a push, change in the car - though it might require a degree of flexibility.

Or, you could go the (hideous) "nude", "natural" tights route for the ceremony and then change to opaques for the evening perhaps?

Wedding dress hell indeed, one every month till July!

It's a bit of a Grecian (but navy so not drapped bed sheets!) style which covers mum tum issues and can be worn as knee length, or with a bit of playing about with the drapping can be shortened (assuming I'm in opaques). I have scoured the shops and online and I'm in denial that I'm not back to pre DD shap and don't want to spend ££ on a dress which I won't wear again!

one a week until July? [bushock]

That's outrageous.

Dress sounds nice, though.

animula · 06/04/2012 21:20

... one a month ....
d'oh.

one a week would be truly weird.

googietheegg · 06/04/2012 21:22

I think it'll be fine if you go for quite sheer opaques rather than those almost wooly thick ones. Your dress sounds lovely!

suntodayplease · 06/04/2012 22:21

Thanks for your replies, long range weather forecast (not hugely reliable I know!) says its only going to be 10/11c with risk of rain so opaques it is!
