Has anyone tried Butter London nail polish?

I'm looking for the perfect peachy corally nail polish and have found this one which looks a lot different in this review.

I really really like it! It's for my wedding, the colour scheme is peach/coral, but all the peach polishes look like granny colours and all the corals are very bright. I am hesitating as I will have to buy two and they aren't cheap! Also P&P is £5 a go!

Does anyone know what they are like? The reviews seem mixed on MUA.

Looks pink to me. Don't see coral there.

Not sure if you should have a 'colour' on your nails for your wedding day- it might look dated in a couple of years.

I have (possibly) about 10 Butter London polishes, bought because I just love the colours - some are really beautiful, however, they can be be really rather thin and streaky and they do chip easily, even with base coat and top coat ( disclaimer - I am hardly the home manicure queen ).

Have you had a look to see if China Glaze do a coral ? They have a huge range, they go on much better, last well and are much cheaper.

Any of these what you're looking for ? www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/china-glaze-sugar-high-chiffon-laced-up.jpg

Have you tried Essie Van D'go? It's a really pretty peach.

RamblingRosa · 04/04/2012 08:50

I had one and had the same experience as Msarsebiscuit. It was very thin and streaky and chipped quickly. I didn't like it at all (and I'm not usually that picky about nail varnish). I wouldn't buy it again.

RamblingRosa · 04/04/2012 08:51

PS. there are loads of lovely corally pinks out there. I agree it's worth a look at Essie. If you look at their website you'll see they've got millions of different pinky coral shades.

Thank you all. I will have a look at all your suggestions.

iate possibly it will look dated but I don't think there's a way round that! The only other options are bare/clear nails or French polish and I don't like either. I thought a colour would be a bit different. My dress is fifties style, if that makes a difference?

i love the colours, I have Bumster which is butterscotchy...i find it lasts badly though, even on top of my gels. Most polishes stay on for weeks on gel. Admittedly I have a job where my hands are used a lot (not with water but my i do a lot of sorting, lifting, carrying, etc etc and the tips chip off very easily with Butter. So, not for day to day. For a wedding....maybe...

lololizzy · 04/04/2012 10:49

I found that if i put on two coats of matte finish topcoat over the Butter, (and I have a gel base) then it says put longer (my nails look like suede angel delight right now, if you remember the butterscotch version!) however for such a pricey polish, it shouldn't need all the extras Hmm

londonlottie · 04/04/2012 10:55

I love their colours but was very disappointed with the quality when I placed an order.

Kaloobear · 04/04/2012 11:00

I have a few and really like them. I use Jessica base and top coats which are the best IMO.

i wore BL for an afternoon shopping yesterday. Now I may shop hard at times Wink but when I got home it had come off at every nail bottom - this is where I have no gel as it's grown out and needs new infills. So basically without the gels, on me it lasts hours. (and it's not like my nail beds should be worn from shopping - only the tips) Also noticed Bentalls in Kingston no longer stock BL. Wonder if it's because so many people tried to return them due to the non existant staying power. Shame as the colours were to die for

lololizzy · 05/04/2012 20:38

I wish they would relaunch the whole range but improve the formula!

londonlottie · 05/04/2012 21:22

Exactly, can't believe the company is going to last - I was thinking I'd be a regular customer but was so disappointed never went back for more.

lololizzy · 05/04/2012 22:12

my bottle was £10 - i fell in love with the unusual shade. But I have unbranded ones from 99pshop that last longer than BL in fact I got 6 bottles for 50p t'other day that ended up in their bargain bin for some reason

lololizzy · 05/04/2012 22:13

this is the only polish I've ever owned that literally chipped within hours (no matter what i was doing)

Emo76 · 06/04/2012 07:57

The quality is very poor in my experience of Butter.

Bluesue26 · 06/04/2012 09:27

I'm wearing one at the moment by Accessorise called Apricot Crush. It's a lovely peach colour and I think it was only £4. Coverage can look a bit streaky but in fairness I'm not great at putting nail varnish on. Might look better with a base coat or gel nails [busmile]
