white i love the first one.

Ambrosius · 02/04/2012 10:23

Won't be going to m&s! Those are pretty white but I can't really wear shift dresses, I have biggish shoulders and boobies so I can never get the zip done up without pancake boobs! Hence the strapless/ strappy dresses in the op.

The first one is beautiful...

Sorry, hate them all.

What about something a bit different like this

I think strapless looks AWFUL on most people but particularly on big busted women.

This is nice

Ambrosius · 02/04/2012 10:37

Sorry they both look like sacks! Thanks for looking though :)

have you checked out warehouse? They usually have some nice dresses. I think the River Island dresses would be great for going out but agree they are not really wedding outfits.
I also really like this oasis dress

whitelillies · 02/04/2012 16:21

I think it s all down to how you wear it and carry it off and your personal style. Sorry I didn't read the bit that said you had norkage (lucky you)
I d say try on stuff too.
I think with bigger boobs you got to be careful - the draped ones IMO look like you re wearing a tent and have no middle. Not that you have to show it all off either but I d love to have cleavage to balance out my hips.
Hmm will
Have another look
(can you tell I love clothes and lookig at them!)

happywheezer · 02/04/2012 16:25

I like the first one
There I'm being positive
If you are young enough and thin enough then it's good.
Very on trend

kickmewhenimdown · 02/04/2012 16:38

I liked the first one and the last one. None of these dresses would look out of place at any of the weddings i've been too and lots of girls the same age as you were wearing similar dresses. Just dressed up with a pretty bag and pretty shoes.

scotsgirl23 · 02/04/2012 16:44

Sorry, I'm slightly younger than you and think they are all a bit too clubby/just not wedding appropriate.

I was at a wedding on Saturday, and most people tended to be wearing things which were a little softer and more feminine, rather than very tightly fitted. Lots of a-lines, prom dresses, draping, etc

Will have a look for dresses

Ambrosius · 02/04/2012 16:44

Yay! someone likes one of them! I asked SIL what she thought and she said she thought the pink one and the sparkly one were gorgeous... I don't want to look like a whore though :(
YY to draped dresses hiding your waist, fitted stuff is much more flattering on me. I haven't got massive norkage (34D) but the broad shoulders make it all much more of an issue.

squashedbanana · 02/04/2012 16:49

AngryFeet, those are gorgeous! I want to go to a wedding now so I have an excuse to buy one

doctordwt · 02/04/2012 16:52

The pink at a push with a shrug.

The sparkly one is HIDEOUS!!!

dexter73 · 02/04/2012 19:32

If you have broad shoulders then the sparkly one will make you look like a body builder! (I have broad shoulders and have to steer clear of halternecks)

Ambrosius · 02/04/2012 19:54

I am a body builder... Confused

not massive though...

OP posts:
dexter73 · 02/04/2012 20:11

Well what I mean is that it will make your shoulders look even bigger. Not I look I go for personally as it makes me feel a bit butch.

FairPhyllis · 02/04/2012 20:54

If you have broad shoulders then strapless or halterneck will only make them look bigger. If you want to deemphasise your shoulders it would be better to have wide straps, with a V neck if you have norks. Agree the River Island ones are trashtastic.

Dorothy P has some really nice ones that have a fitted waist.

Maxi

Coral peplum

Lace

Knock off of a Reiss dress, also in black

Colour block

This is in loads of different colours

I think this is super cute

There are loads more like this if you don't like the colours or whatever.

Ambrosius · 02/04/2012 21:39

I like the coral and the lace. :)
The cat one is v cute but not glam enough for a wedding.

lilaloves · 03/04/2012 09:41

Have you had a look at Jane Norman, they do quite glam/sparkly stuff. What about a maxi dress??

lilaloves · 03/04/2012 09:44

Or Karen Millen,but a bit more£££.

Ambrosius · 03/04/2012 09:59

I don't really like maxi dresses, or empire lines generally. Karen Millen dresses are beautiful but I don't have that kind of money :(
Jane Norman seems trashier than the dresses I picked from what I've seen! Worth another look though, thanks :)
