How can I make a black dress suitable for a wedding?

I am pregnant, will be 24 and 27 weeks at two weddings. I have been shopping all day and found nothing maternity that is suitable. Everything is really casual or stupidly expensive. This will be last baby so don't want to spend loads. I can't wear red or pink or Orange or purple which seems to rule out most stuff.

I have a lovely knee length black dress from last time. Flattering, smart etc. But it is black and you aren't supposed to wear black to weddings. Argh.

couloured accessories.

I am wearing a black maxi dress to a Muslim wedding next week - because it's the only whole-body-encompassing dress I have. I am wearing it with an animal print jacket, gold shoes and gold accessories. I wouldn't necessarily take style advice from me though Grin.

bright silk scarf?

Hmm, what colour? I have red hair (ok ginger) so that rules out pink, red and purple. Maybe a bright green? I could get a cardi and shoes.

Obviously, I trust you to know what suits you best, but I have red hair and my best colours are pink (fushia not baby), purple and red.

Technically I think black is best with chocoalte, camel, cream, grey or silver. It makes bright colours look cheap imo.

Think would be classiest (is that a word?) with cream, maybe cardi/wrap and shoes?

im ginger too and always go green

Go on line, mamalicious, milkbug, new look maternity all have really lovely dresses and new look isnt that expensive. I got a nursing dress from milkbug and it was gorgeous.

I don't like buying online as I have no idea what it will look like on. Today I tried on two dresses I had seen online and they both looked hideous.

Black is fine as long as you accessorise. Fascinator, wrap, beads and shoes and you're sorted!

I think black is fine these days. Last year I wore a knee length black dress to a wedding that had caramel detailing. I wore with a caramel head piece, a cream angora bolero and black shoes.
