I have been to get a perm this morning and it hasn,t taken.
I had asked for curls that were not too curly or too tight but more of a looser curl.
I even mentioned a spiral type perm but not too tight she told me that it would turn out too curly for me and the hair would really spring up.
I have just past the shoulder lengh straight hair with some slight long layers in but its mostly the same length.
My hair is also fine I was hoping the perm would give it some body.
The rollers that she used were big round ones and she simply just rolled them down to the scalp and put the perming solution on.
The finished effect was just a slight wave which would probably have come out in no time anyway.
I am thinking that she should have used the long thin rollers where you hook the elastic over bobble at the end and have put the rollers in another way sideways etc.
They didn,t charge me but I am extrememly dissapointed.
They keep on about it could be because I need shorter layers in etc but I am not convinced.
I used to have my hair permed alot and it always took really well.
Please please is there a qualified hairdresser on here know its difficult without seeing my hair but would be grateful of any opinions even if your not a hairdresser but have got to know what works best.

I am not a hairdresser - but I do visit the salon often. Grin

I also used to model for a teaching salon years ago and often got perms then. Now I model for my salon and they can colour/dry my hair, but not cut it.

If you wanted curls then what they did wouldnt have worked. It sounds like they did a 'body' perm on the roots to me.

Cutting in layers would help if your hair was very thick and you were having a spiral perm, but you said your hair was thin so no idea on that one.

Did you have this done at your usual salon?
