help, making the most of the sunshine, i've had a pedicure, so my feet are lovely, wearing my birkenstock madrids and they are making the most awful farting noise as i walk.
My feet arent sweaty, in fact id say they are cold as the air con in the office seems to be on blast freeze.
I've lost a bit of weight since last year and gone down a shoe size so brought new birkenstocks and other sandals. alwasy found the birkis to be comfortable and non squelching/trumping.

at farting birkiesGrin

No advice but gizeh are much more comfy than madrids IMO. Madrids do that flapping thing as you walk with only the one strap. I much prefer gizehs, once you get used to the toe post they are great.

My madrids have never farted though!

GoblersKnob · 29/03/2012 14:09

My dp had fat face sandals that farted, in the end he threw them out, they were almost new.

Maybe there is air escaping Confused? Put them in water like you do with the inner tube from a bike. When you see bubbles, patch it up

BettyBathroom · 29/03/2012 14:36

Mine do too - have tried talc, loosening them, tightening them and now trying giving up and looking embarassed while the kids snigger!

daisydoodoo · 29/03/2012 14:37

oh dear, looks like i may have to bin them then. Maybe when i had a fatter foot, they fit better? My dc think its hilarious.
Will try the Gizeh.
thanks

I think it's the arch of your foot having a suction effect as they've moulded to your feet and as you walk the air escapes making the noise.
My friend's Birkenstocks do it too and we were having a good giggle at hers.

skandi1 · 29/03/2012 14:44

Wear them with socks like the Germans do.

daisydoodoo · 29/03/2012 14:47

thanks for that skandi1 think it might set a new trend?

daisydoodoo · 29/03/2012 14:49

yes yes i know but i've not brought any new sandals yet had ordered these online and thought they would do until the weekend. At least they are no longer teamed with Boden but a rather fetching french connection number Wink

Have you recently moisturised your feet?

I went bonkers with the Flexitol one night and the next day I had farting Birki's. It is no joke Grin

pocketandsweet · 29/03/2012 16:06

Ha. I have always had this problem with my Birks when in hot countries( maybe the UK qualifies this week)... Especially bad in quiet places like museums!

LexieSinclair · 29/03/2012 16:48

I have Gizehs and they fart too. It's embarrassing at first but after a while you get used to it. Grin

daisydoodoo · 29/03/2012 16:54

I had a pedicure so all hard skin removed and moisturised. That could be it. Will give them another go as I know they are mumsy but they are comfy.

I have the same problem. I think it's the air escaping between my foot and the sandal. Is this also the problem you have? Did you find already a solution? I have to word in a quiet place so it is very embarrassing.
