How did you have your make up for your wedding?

I'm doing my own and having lots of fun experimenting with different looks! When I looked through my make up I was really surprised to find that although I have tons of the stuff, I only had about 3 different colours of eyeshadow, a couple of red lippies and a couple of browny/nude ones. I have bought some palettes to experiment with (ELF and Urban Decay Naked 2 which was pricey but I LOVE it).

I'm thinking natural eyes, light brown with a slight smoke and brown liner, not too dramatic just to enhance as much as possible. Pinky cheeks and pinky/browny lips.

My dress is fifties style, but I don't want to do red lips.

My wedding make up was pretty much how you describe. I used Lust in Lip Glass by MAC for a lovely pinky/brown lip. Not sure if they do that shade as a lipstick. Apparently it is a very popular shade for brides - enough colour to be noticeable but not so that you have to touch up constantly.

That gloss looks beautiful. Is it sticky? Glosses normally annoy me as my hair gets stuck in it!

It is a bit sticky actually and yes, it annoys me now that my hair is longer (had shorter hair when we got married). Worth asking at the MAC counter which of their lipsticks come in a similar shade if you really can't abide the gloss/sticky factor :)

Colours sound lovely. If you have a veil, don't have a lip gloss!

No veil families, but I am having my hair down.

I'm going to an 'event' at the Illamasqua store on Thursday so I'll see what they can suggest.

I rocked some clinique 80's purple eyeshadow on my wedding day

I had Bobbi Brown stuff, and it was much as you describe -- light taupey colour on lids (the long wear cream shadow), gel eyeliner in dark brown, and dusky pink blusher and lipstick, plus waterproof mascara. I smudged a dab of gloss on top of the lipstick to give it some depth and life, but not much as I was afraid of stickiness. I did have my hair up though.

I had 2 trials but professionals and they both made me look like a oompa loompa so I decided to do it myself and had a trial at the body shop and used it like a lesson as I have always been pretty useless at doing my own makeup and then i bought the stuff and did it myself. Imo It looked great :)

It was very natural looking with pinky lips and slightly smokey eyes.

I had a trial and felt like one of those dolls heads children have

I have very simple soft brown liner with some lightly shaded beigey brown eyeshadow, a bit of blush and some vaseline on lips (as it isn't tacky)

I don't really understand people who go mad on their wedding day and look so different to how they normally do

VeronicaSpeedwell · 27/03/2012 12:56

Oh yes, Methe has just reminded me I booked in for the 1 hour bridal lesson at the BB counter and it was fab. Totally free and no obligation to buy at the time, so I just got a couple of bits. They don't just make you over they talk about what you want and then properly train you in how to do it yourself. The most useful bit was not the stuff about colour, but the advice on how to cover dark circles and so on. I had never bothered doing this before but it was great and it definitely made me look much better on the day.

whackamole · 27/03/2012 16:20

I've had a couple of trials done and I really don't like it. I don't like anyone else touching my face! They also never blend properly and choose dubious colours. I will go to the BB counter next time I am in town - funnily enough, that is the one brand I haven't ever tried!
