Bootcut jeans and Mum boots combo officially cool again?

Kate Moss in bootcut jeans and Mum boots! Apologies for linking to the Daily Mail.

I was very pleased to see this (even if they were cord/velvet flares) and now feel much better about the flattering black bootcut jeans I am currently wearing.

All I need now is a chic top, expensive sunglasses and a smug expression. Hmm

Those are skinny flares and vintage zipped knee boots Wink

Hetaera · 27/03/2012 12:09

Smile I can never tell the difference between the two (something to do with the tightness on the thigh?) and suspect shops describe jeans as 'skinny flare' when they could just as easily be bootcut. Knee high or not, those boots look like they have a nice sturdy heel!

Personally, I think it looks ridiculous - and boot cut jeans are rarely as flattering as people think unless they are precisely the right length and width. Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham both appear to be giving the impression that having feet is rather unfashionable this season...

IMO, straight cut jeans are far more flattering to most shapes and sizes.

mrsebojones · 27/03/2012 13:33

I think boot cut jeans are more tricky than people think. They still need to be a dark wash, well fitting - slim through the thigh and then skim just above the ground - and worn with the correct heel. Otherwise they are just as unflattering as any other cut of jeans.

Personally I'm loving my coloured skinnies with heeled ankle boots on this fine spring day!

I want her sunglasses!

noddyholder · 27/03/2012 15:47

I think she looks great not over done and coiffed like most celebs

jocesar · 27/03/2012 15:48

Interesting opinions, now I think boot cuts are flattering on the majority of shapes and I think straight legs look a bit frumpy. Also I see very, very few people in the street who look good in skinnys- all in the eye of the beholder I suppose. Just musing in the sun....

SeaHouses · 27/03/2012 17:01

The only good thing about skinny jeans is that you can wear them with knee high boots and actually see the attractive boot. Without boots, they are unsightly. I don't think it is because they are unflattering on the body, it is just that they are associated with unstylish time periods like the eighties.

I cannot wait for the return of some kind of flared trousers.

drywhiteplease · 27/03/2012 22:05

Top shop are selling boot cuts!

mumat39 · 27/03/2012 22:27

Josecar, I'm with you. If I ever actually manage to get into a pair of skinnies or straight leg jeans, I look vile. I've been told that bootcuts are for grannies, but I really don't think many people look good in skinnies either. Most of the people I see are slim, but just look odd.

I'm a very confused older mum and just haven't got a clue what to wear or what colour looks right or.., or.., or.. , so what do I know.

Hetaera · 28/03/2012 09:34

I think we're due a wider-leg jean revival! Whatever style of leg, it really is all about the cut. Some bootcuts are awful and add bulk, while some straight legs are too slim fitting and verge on the skinny.

In my opinion, one can wear what the fuck one likes to wear. All these people telling us what we can and can't wear, who are they, the Official Fashion Police? I like boot cuts, I do not like skinnies. You wear what you want to, I DON'T CARE.

mrsebojones · 28/03/2012 11:10

I have a pair of wider leg 70s - esque mid blue jeans that I wear with platform heels. I hae reported on here before that I get far more compliments when I wear these than my skinnies - from DH and random women in the street!! Yay! Bring the flare revival on I say!

mrsebojones · 28/03/2012 11:11

Says she, again wearing her coloured skinnies tucked into ankle boots Wink

BusinessTrills · 28/03/2012 11:12

Doesn't matter if Kate Moss wears it, too-short mid-blue slightly-washed-out bootcuts with mum boots do not look good.

BusinessTrills · 28/03/2012 11:13

Your "flattering black bootcuts" are not the same as the bootcuts in the "bootcuts and mum boots" meme.

Helltotheno · 28/03/2012 11:55

Basically if you've got a bangin' bod or a clotheshorse figure, you can wear anything you like... I refer all to Kate Moss in this pic Grin

Skinnies are unflattering on many, many people and I do think it's down to body shape not trends...and I include myself in that!

badtasteflump · 28/03/2012 12:00

I never knew bootcuts were 'out' Blush
