Help! Should this impulse buy go back??

I was in a M & S Outlet store today when this very pretty baby pink, `tweed', linen knee length skirt jumped in my basket!! It has a really pretty belt which is made of glass beads and drapes round the front in a tie.

Now it is very pretty and it only cost £9 it was originally £35 (last season??), but what the heck do I wear it with. I need your help girls!

Having been a bit of a porker until my Lighterlife diet (now size 12), I am only just rediscovering clothes. The skirt is pull on and has a slight flirty hemline and is knee length. Now if this was a dark colour I would wear boots with it. Anyone got this style skirt from last spring and keen to offer me some advice. Also what do I wear on top?

I am beginning to think that I shouldnt have bought it - some advice please??

white boots or sandals if its the right sort?

GeorgieVickyLou · 03/02/2006 22:10

Is it a smart or casual style? Flip flops in the summer??? kitten heal shoes? white strippy top or sleveless roll top?????

GeorgieVickyLou · 03/02/2006 22:12

How about somthing like this

merlot · 04/02/2006 16:44

thanks for all your ideas and the shoes are very pretty GeorgieVickyLou.

It is a lined linen skirt, so I guess its fairly smart. But again, I think it could be dressed up or down iyswim to suit the occasion. Definitely more spring than summer. Also, just a bit concerned that as I am 40 I dont want to look muttony and therefore think it is probably essential that I get the look right. Gut feeling is boots would be right, probably because I am and 5' 5" with white pasty legs! but what sort of boots? Gut feeling is it needs something a bit fluffy (cashmere) to go with it up top. Creams and more pinks would be nice I think - In the `tweed' fleck it has a tiny bit of cerise and a whole multitude of other pinks - but the overall impression is baby pink. Any more ideas?? Still not certain that I should keep it. Help!

if it is overall baby pink with flecks of darker pink, i would try and pick out the darker colour and get a top in that tone. otherwise too much baby pink! would wear with heeled sandals for smarter occassions as white/cream boots can look cheap. andthen in the summer go more casual with flip flops/ birkenstock style sandals and vest top, make the most of your new figure!

(p.s can't wait until after this baby is born so that i can shift all this weight with lighter life, i am looking forward to having a new slimline autumn/winter wardrobe)

yes, I agree about the white boots maybe looking a bit cheap at my age.

I may be the same weight as when I was 20 (fantastic!) but am accutely aware that I cant wear the same sort of things I wore then. Trying to go for the sophisticated look now
