hate to say it but i think most of the maternity clothes are horrible & boring, im just trying to buy holiday & summer stuff, 22 wks at mo, why don't you try getting a normal maxi , just go up a size or 2,,,,, im sure you'll find one, new look, river island, H&M, or TK Maxx, goodluck :-)

jolie33 · 26/03/2012 17:26

I wore lots of maxi dresses during my pregnancy last summer, none of them were maternity though, just normal clothes in the next size up. Either go for an empire line style, or stretchy tshirt material - I wore lots of plain or stripy stretchy dresses, from dorothy perkins mainly a bit like this. I had twins so was huge but jersey has a lot of give!

HamblesHandbag · 26/03/2012 18:14

so apparently it IS so hard Sad

I do take your point about maxi dresses not being the height of style, but I don't particularly want my bare legs out in front of the public

but it's too warm for tights.

ho hum.

I had a really excellent one last year from Isabella Oliver. Quite pricey but so worth it. Was figure hugging but had ruching across the bump so immensely flattering. Should put it on eBay really but I loved it so much it's hard to let go!

Ive bought a few recently. Gap have two in this week in the maternity section. One black and one black and white striped. The sizes seem different though. I'm a 12 and have L in black and M in the striped one. The jersey roll waist skirt in their non maternity range is worth a try too. I wear mine a lot because it is so comfy.

New Look have a few. One with a grey & black pattern. I tried it on yesterday (having bought weeks ago and removed tags) & I looked indecent because my chest is so big. Would look lovely on a more modest bosom.

GreenEyedMunster · 26/03/2012 20:42

You don't really need maternity maxis though.
As a previous poster said just wear n ordinary one.
I didn't even go a size up TBH, theres lots of material in them anyway.

Happy shopping, hope your find something suitable

I loved maxi dresses last year, I was pg and it is the only time that I can look good in them, if I wear them when I am not pg, I look pg!

They are easy, just wear a size up in non maternity. Maternity ones are vile (IMO), they have far to much fabric in them, this looks especially awful if your bump is all up front.

TheDetective · 26/03/2012 21:00

Hahaha! Did you come shopping with me today?!

All I muttered at every maxi dress was, 'boobs round my knees'. I have resigned myself to thinking that I am going to have to buy some straps and sew them on myself. Always an option!!!

BikeRunSki · 26/03/2012 21:04

I wore a normal maxi dress too when I was pg last summer. Wore it to about 8 months when it got too cold.

HamblesHandbag · 26/03/2012 22:09

right then, I've ordered a couple of non-maternity maxis to try.

cheers!

I had a non-maternity one from Oasis 2 years ago. I think I bought a size up. My boobs were indecent buti tbh there was no hiding them in anything!

MaMattoo · 26/03/2012 22:22

H&M do very cool stuff at times. Jojo maman bebe also had some cool though pricey maxi things last summer.
