Concealer routine to make me look bright n breezy

Right I've had enough of doing my makeup and still looking like I've had no sleep.
The bags under my eyes are terrible. I currently use a collection 2000 16hr wear concealer and a L'Oreal illuminating concealer but those bags won't budge.
Can anyone recommend a brilliant concealing routine Sad

Clinique do a good illuminating concealer. Not sure of price but it lasts for ages and if you use a brush to apply it, it can easily hide those bags ;)

I've tried loads over the years and so far this one is the best I've tried.

Do you have actual bags, as in baggy loose skin, or is it just dark circles you have?

I get dark circles but dont have bags and this is what I do to brighten the darkness:

  1. A good eyecream morning and night. At the moment I am using Clinique All About Eyes which I like but I'm wondering if I can get a cheaper alternative as I'm getting through the small pots too quickly.
  1. Benefit Erase Paste under foundation as a colour corrector to cancel out the dark circles. Bobbi Brown corrector would do the same job.
  1. Put foundation on, including over the top of the Erase Paste
  1. Little bit of Laura Mercier secret concealer, set with a fine milled powder (I use the Laura Mercier one)

This works v well on me and I really do have shocking circles. No tips for baggy skin though I'm afraid!

Touch eclait all the way, it's the best around and trust me I have tried loads. I always look bright eyed after I have applied it, it's my make up bag must have. Works a charm at getting rid of the black eyes and only takes a few seconds to apply!!

tallwivglasses · 22/03/2012 23:39

Eeeh Rosie, do you get commission? There's cheaper versions though int there?

I was ready to try pile cream on me bags til someone on here said they'd taken away the vital shrinking ingredient. So Glad I didn't do it. What was I thinking? It's meant to go up you're arse ffs.

alessthandomesticgoddess · 22/03/2012 23:42

Do you have loose skin or just circles?

For dark circles I use Benefit Erase Paste with a tiny dab of champagne highlighting eyeshadow/cream over the top before my foundation. If you still need to touch up a bit of EP on a concealer brush and pressed in helps and set it with loose or pressed powder on a big kabuki brush.

FabMum1 · 23/03/2012 11:06

Ladies it's just dark circles. Nothing I try works.
I looked at Benefit Erase Paste before but didn't buy. Do you buy a shade lighter?

I've tried lots of concealers / illuminators, but Touche Éclat is the original and best, IME. I like the Nivea eye cream too, and the Garnier rollers feel nice but don't have a lasting effect on my suitcases bags.

LucyManga · 23/03/2012 15:51

I dont care if YSL Touche Eclat is a highlighter, it is the best for concealing dark shadows - just dont go overboard or you end up with white bags.

cybbo · 23/03/2012 16:02

I disagree- touche eclait does not have enough pigment

Its better for bringing 'forward' sunken eye sockets

Use the triangle method, use less product than you think and dont dry the skin out under your eyes with harsh eye make up removers

Will link to triangle method hold on

Oh...

Perhaps TE works well on me because I'm pretty pale skinned

madmomma · 23/03/2012 18:47

mine are awful, and I find the best method to be serum, Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, then estee lauder doublewear concealer. (the one in a lipgloss - style tube with a sponge -tipped wand)

Flightty · 23/03/2012 18:51

Just want to say that every single person who has ever said to me, 'I have terrible dark circles' I have not been able to distinguish between them and anyone else in the vicinity in terms of their dark circles. They are not noticeable. Really they are not.

I have heard that drinking more water helps with it, though, if that's worth a try?

VickityBoo · 23/03/2012 18:55

Depending how much you want to spend. For small budget, I've heard amazing things about Aldi's Lacura eye concealer apparently it's as good as ysl.

40notTrendy · 23/03/2012 19:02

Drink lots of water, it genuinely helps. And another vote for touché éclat. Don't put powder under your eyes, it's the make up equivalent of shouting look at my bags!

thestringcheesemassacre · 23/03/2012 19:02

I watched the triangle tutorial and she did look better.
But what was she using? Dlidn't look like regular concealer.
I use the double wear one too, and then a bit of highlighting with Touche Eclat. But to be honest, I feel a bit clowny.

cybbo · 23/03/2012 19:08

She was using creamy concealer decanted into a proffessional palette
