Very posh and glam frock needed!

Lovely stylish ladies, you helped me enormously last year with advice about how to minimise the impact of my facial palsy and neck scar - well, guess what? I need more advice from you - I have been invited to the Olivier Awards and after-dinner party and need a frock that will be suitable for mixing with celebs, wahey!! Grin

None of my posh frocks fits me any more, since I lost weight through being ill last year, so I need to get a new one. I am 5 ft 2 and a bit inches tall, size 8 with an hourglass figure and have brown/blonde hair in a chin length bob cut.

Any advice, oh wise and wonderful women of style?

Oh how exciting!

What budget were you thinking and did you want long or short? And particular colours?

SweetestThing · 21/03/2012 18:31

It is exciting, isn't it?!!

I can stretch to about £300, I think and I am happy with either long or short. I have pale skin, so black can leech the colour out of me. My favourite posh frock from when I was a bit more curvy is bright red. I like red, turquoise, bronze etc. I feel a trying-on session will be needed up in that Londinium place!!

The outnet have some fabulous evening dresses in your budget

eg Marchesa
turquoise

SweetestThing · 21/03/2012 19:16

These are fabulous! Love the red one Snowy linked to, and the Marchesa one.

Of course, I will need shoes, bag, suitable jewellery..... I am sooooo excited! My DH, bless him, isn't invited but is as pleased for me as I am!

Slightly over budget, but you might like this D&G ice blue dress. I know I do.

SweetestThing · 21/03/2012 19:25

oooh, that is lovely - I bet it's really unforgiving if you eat too much dinner! Mind you, I'll be too excited to eat!!

I ADORE this dress. So gorgeous and I would want to wear it all summer. Dying to get my hands on it. www.anusha.co.uk/product.cfm?id=1202

Quick update, in case you are interested.... I went to a vintage shop in Tunbridge Wells and got a beautiful gold satin evening gown. Hard to describe, but I felt totally in keeping with the incredibly glamorous people at the do I went to (it was the Olivier Awards). There are pictures on my Facebook account if anyone wants to see them - not sure if I can link from here!

Thank you for your interest and help, you stylish ladies of the internet Grin.
