Help me buy a scarf/shawl for new mum

Hi,

Can you recommend a nice shawl/scarf for a new mum, one she can use if nursing and also that would look nice as an accessory.

Have seen 1 on Mothercare site but knowing you lot, you can point me in the direction of a shop with a bit more individuality.

The plan is vouchers and a present, I thought this would be nice as lady in question loves wearing scarves and I know she would love this.

I would have Googled but am in work so am seeking the power of Mumsnet to assist.

Thank you in advance and Happy Tuesday all.

Grin Thanks

I use the "MN scarf" - like this but any long wide scarf is great - I have quite a collection and they're super useful. I like ones that look absolutely nothing like BFing coverups best Grin

Oh, and if the one you saw on the website was the Mamascarf, I would never ever use something like that so I think your idea to look for something more stylish is a good one!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 20/03/2012 16:29

Thank you other Brian Grin

I'm home now so can investigate further.

I think that scarf is fab - I always thought the MN scarf was an urban myth, didn't realise there was an actual scarf Wink

I foresee at least 1 purchase for Friend, 1 for ME and another in a few weeks for my other pregnant Friend.

Thanks for your help Smile

Warehouse have lovely scarves with great prints at the moment too.

BrianButterfield · 20/03/2012 20:17

The Galliano one's lovely, but it's silk and dry-clean only - so I'd never wear it with my boaky DS around!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 20/03/2012 20:42

yeah, I went through ebay and saw a McQueen scarf.....high fashion and baby vomit are not happy bed fellows Grin Do quite like the Galliano one for myself who has no vomiting baby in my life anymore (sticky 8 year old though...Hmm )

Still looking, really love the MN scarf.

Saw these and liked the fact that they were very long. Also very cheap, and also very long time to get to the UK from China.

I'm thinking practical and around £20 (as the collection we're having is mainly going to be for vouchers and will probably be around the £100 mark maximum)

ooh just a though. The next issue of Elle magazine has a fiveteen quid discount card for Whistles. If there is no minimum spend how about looking there?

Dorothy Perkins? Cosmo has a 20 code at the moment in there.
