I tried out Dressipi and I'm a bit depressed now

It hasn't got my style right at all. I'm apparently a size smaller than clothes that fit me, some places two sizes. I click on trousers or jeans to like/dislike and it just says No results were found, try a different search. It only shows me dresses and skirts, which I wear once in a blue moon.

Obviously I have answered wrongly in some way. I think I will go back to hit and miss as before.

I found it pretty good.

But it refuses to believe that I don't like black.

HugeFurryWishingStool · 20/03/2012 09:15

Yes I found similar, it refuses to believe i don't have Margaret Thatcher as a style icon.
I'm 30 ffs, stop sending me links to Banana Republic, Lands End and Marks&Spencer!

Sockspence · 20/03/2012 09:16

It's a great idea but the programming needs tweaking. What's the point of making the time to input the data in that you don't like Per Una and won't wear pink if it's going to offer up a PU frilly candy floss-coloured chiffon monstrosity? Back to Shopstyle for me.

Pascha · 20/03/2012 09:18

Yes Shopstyle on my iphone is more my thing.

Also I look a fair bit younger than my age, if I wore the big bum slacks and shoulder padded blouses it thinks I want, I would resemble a kid in a dressing up race.

SarkyWench · 20/03/2012 09:25

It has never offered me Per una.
I get lots of Reiss and Mango.

But it does keep offering me thing which are "out of stock" which are actually in stock.
And far far far too many maxi dresses.

smearedinfood · 20/03/2012 09:35

It doesn't seem to factor in that if you have big boobs you can't really wear shirt dresses or shirts

Pascha · 20/03/2012 09:50

Why doesn't it think I wear trousers or jeans Confused? It shows me work-smart fitted expensive dresses and floor length gowns when I chose the pic of mum with child at home as most like me, Warehouse, River Island, Uniqlo as my shop choices.

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2012 11:02

It kept giving me row after row of navy stuff. I hate navy.....then I realised I had marked blue as one of my favourite colours. Durr.....

I found the stuff it suggested for me was somewhat boring classic; having said that, it alerted me to the presence of Mango, which I have never tried before. When I was in John Lewis the other day I tried on some Mango trousers and they fitted like a glove! They were plain black, for work, so not exactly cutting edge fashion, but will be useful.

I think I'll have another go when I have a spare minute.

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2012 11:03

Oh yes, there also needs to be some sort of price ceiling. There is no point in a website suggesting high-end stuff at £250 because I will never in a million years spend that on an item of clothing. Even my wedding dress cost less than that!

laptopdancer · 20/03/2012 14:01

Dressipis wasnt suitable for me either...really got it wrong

smearedinfood · 21/03/2012 21:58

Got an email from dressipi directly after posting on here. They intend to review their site after this thread.... The power of mumsnet.... Oooh

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 21/03/2012 22:01

It keeps recommending Evans for me Sad and I'm not an Evans size . ( if I was that would be fine ).

frumperina · 21/03/2012 22:15

Glad I'm not the only one that found it less then helpful. I'm embarrassed to say I flounced and deleted my account after my weekly email contained 3 particularly hideous trousers 'perfect for me'.
I'm not normally a flouncy person. Blush
And if they are reading this I may as well carry on:
It showed me about 2 sizes bigger in most shops than I actually am(bloody big enough as it is!)
At some point when I set up my account it asked how I spend most of my time: crawling around on the floor with a toddler was an option I believe, so I ticked that.It then kept recommending me nothing but pencils skirts and very figure hugging dresses. Hmm
But if they are improving it I might try again.

nancy75 · 21/03/2012 22:18

It has just told me that I need to order the longest length trousers from Boden, I am only 5 foot 1!

TheFarSide · 21/03/2012 22:23

I've recently acquired 2 pairs of jeggings ... and they told me I should avoid jeggings

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/03/2012 22:32

There's def something wrong in the programming. In the definitely not to wear section it bans me from skinnies, click on the 'perfect for you" section and hey presto, up pop loads of skinnies.

I am assuming there database works partially on various tags applied to clothing - that also needs a look at. If I click on any of my capsule wardrobe suggestions it either has something completely unrelated to the item clicked on (eg click on boyfriend blazer, shows some frilly floaty top thing), or it finds nothing at all when there is blatantly loads of stuff.

Worked out my "style" perfectly (ish), but seems to completely ignore all my (very accurate) fashion fingerprint stuff, when making suggestions in "perfect for you".

As far as I can tell "perfect for you" just brings up every product on their database, and liking/disliking has no effect at all.

I know this is a long rant, but if they are watching the thread...

Tis a fantastic idea though and is giving me lots of ideas, and I have even made a purchase through the site:-)

FairPhyllis · 22/03/2012 01:02

I tried it the other day but got a bit fed up that all the dresses it showed me were really short. I really do need a knee length skirt (hideous fat knees). I imagine other people have the same issue with sleeve lengths. But it was useful for suggesting some new high street brands.

wallpaperjo · 22/03/2012 17:31

I use it quite a bit and find it pretty good. I have definitely learnt stuff about what suits me and not - and have bought a couple of things. I also got an email from them the other day which I thought was amazing. How often does that happen from companies They explained all the improvements they were making and why certain stuff works how it does at the moment. I imagine its pretty hard to get everyone right at the beginning.

I have just disliked everything they have said as perfect for me

laptopdancer · 22/03/2012 21:39

Ok - problems with mine

I am a fat but petite lady so clothes are difficult. They have suggested empire line dresses, which make me look pregnant and A line skirts which look awful and make me look huge in the hips. There are also a lot of horizontal stripes being recommended and I have a 42 inch waist (I know, bloody awful).

There also seem to be lots of very clingy looking tops- er,no

I think there should be an option for sleeves v non sleeves as most are sleeveless and there is no way in hell Id wear a sleevless top with arms like mine. And a question on legs....good legs vs not so good.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 22/03/2012 22:04

I am a 37 year old student but look and dress a lot younger. I put 20 in as my age. You could try similar you know, it won't know. Hmm
